Thursday evening at 7 o'clock in the high school gymnasium the Playground children will be perform- ing in a Playground Entertainment Night. This will be an hour of songs, skits and dancing as well as the presentation of Track and Field awards and priz- es to the winners of the Anti-Pollution Poster Contes: (Remember deadline for posters is August 14th. See the poster in the Recreation Centre for further details). : Parents and friends are very cordially invited to attend this entertainment night to be pleasantly en- tertained by their children. On Friday, August 18th, a Family Supper is being planned, to be held out at Rainbow Falls. Further details will be brought home by the Playground children, concerning the supper. This event was a huge success last year so bring the family and come on out! LAKESHORE COMMUNITY TELEVISION For some time now, television reception in general has not been what we would like it to be, therefore we feel that an explanation is in order. About one month ago, WLUC TV, 6, announced a change of tower site during the construction of which, outlying areas would not be expected to be up to par. They have not completed this change- over as yet, but we expect this to take place within the next week or two. WJMN TV, 3, has been operating on the cable for about two years on an experimental basis only pending arrangements with the Canadian Radio & Television Commission for permanent permission fo carry same. Until permission is obtained, we do not feel that large capital expenditures are indicated It would appear that the CBC programming as of late leaves a little to be desired and in this respect we can do nothing. In May of this year, we filled a letter of intent with CRTC proposing a relay system to the North Shore area ensuring reliable Television reception with a choice of programming, but to this date no decision has been forthcoming. We will have our new antenna site in operation sometime during October and it is hoped that this will effect an improvement in the reception of pre- sently received channels.
