MEMBERSHIP TEA - JUNE 11TH The regular monthly meeting of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Women's League was held in the Church Hall on Sunday, May 21st at 8:30 p.m. The president, Mrs. G. Ramsay opened the meet- ing with a few words of welcome followed by a decade of the rosary and the League Prayers. Mrs. B. Lapenskie read a passage from the Jerusalem Bible, and Mrs. P. Malashewsky read the minutes of the last meeting and the correspondence. Mrs. F. Helmink gave the treasurer's report and the various standing committee chairmen gave their reports. Mrs. A. Regis, Church Life Convener, read an inspiring poem, "Why God Made Mothers". Mrs. M. Chepelsky, Social, Economic and Civic Life Convener stated that approximately ten boxes of used clothing had been sent to Father Giroux at the Red Lake Indian Missions. Mrs. L. McBride, Organization reported that memberships would be available after the Masses on June 3rd and 10th. The annual membership tea will be held on Sunday, June 11th - bring your favourite recipe and a friend. Mrs. H. Prill, Cultural Life, reported that the First Communion Class were presented with First Communion Booklets and that plans were finalized for the grade eight graduation. All Graduates are to receive a Graduation Pin. On Monday, June 12th at 7 p.m. in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Sister Paulette Hadfield will receive her final vows to the Sisterhood. A reception will follow. Mrs. G. Ramsay gave a report on the Convention held in Atikokan which she attended with Mrs. L. McBride and Father Greengrass. The meeting was adjourned by Mrs. M. Chepelsky after which "Holy God We Praise Thy Name" and "O Canada" were sung. Mrs. G. Dashkewytch then introduced the guest speaker, Miss Mary Sereda, a member of the Happy Handicaps of Thunder Bay. Miss Sereda was present- ed with a gift on behalf of the League by Mrs. M. Chepelsky. : A social hour followed. Ll srg _-. cveryone welcome. The meeting was adjourned and a lovely lunch served. Ruth Soughton has received word that she has graduated from the University of Western Ontario with her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She has the distinction of having earned a place on the Dean's Honour List. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Gavin and Kristine have returned to Sault Ste. Marie after a lengthy visit with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Boyd Jr. and other relatives in town. Heather and Brian both graduated from Cambrian College this year and will remain in Sault Ste.
