The annual meeting of the St. Berchman's Altar Society was held Thursday evening at Mrs. Mac Hubelit's home. Mrs. Josephine Kenney presided and led in the opening prayers. The minutes of the last meeting and the 1971 Annual meeting were read by Mrs. Mac Hubelit and moved for adoption by Mrs. H. Legault and Mrs. R. Kenney. Cards of Thanks were read and filed. A letter was read from Novalis Co. and existing accounts were passed for payment. The financial statement and treasurers report were heard and adopted on motions of Mrs. M. Hubelit and Mrs. E. Gerow. Mrs. Kenney reported on the repairs on the entrance door and work being done in the cemetery. It was also noted that sufficient candles and light bulbs were in supply. The annual Father's Day Penny Auction will take place Sunday, June 18th at eight o'clock in the evening. Arrangements were made for workers on this project. The tickets are to be sorted and the many prizes of plain and fancy sewing, slacks hot pant sets, novelties and other articles are to be counted and prepared for display on Monday by the members. It was decided to hire Peter Gerow again this year to look after the watering of flowers, shrubs, and church lawn and cutting of the grass. A new water sprinkler and hose extension are to be pur- chased and snapdragon bedding plants be purchased for the Grotto. It was noted that a new broom was needed for the church and three members agreed to look after the annual spring cleaning of the church to be paid on the hourly wage schedule. Mrs. Kenney as the retiring president gave her annual report showing several successful bingos, a penny auction and a draw were held. Proceeds amounting to almos nine hundred dollars were spent on fuel, janitor and gardener work on the church grounds, church supplies and repairs. She thanked the members for their co-operation during the past year thus making a successful year of faith ful work. - Incoming officers for the 1972-73 term are - President, Mrs. Eugene Gerow; Vice-President, Mrs. William Schelling; Secretary, Mrs. Herb Legault and Treasurer, Mrs. C. Todesco. Mrs. Gerow moved a vote of thanks to Mrs. Kenney for her leadership and the retiring executive. Mrs. Hubelit extended good wishes to the incoming officers for a successful year. Mrs. Gerow took the chair for the closing prayers and Mrs. Legault moved adjournment. The members sorted and packed several boxes of good used clothing for distribution. The evening closed with luncheon and a social hour. Mrs. Kenney invited the members to her home for the June meeting.
