LAKESHORE COMMUNITY TELEVISION LIMITED RECREATION NEWS Terrace Bay Minor Hockey Annual Banquet - May 27: The Terrace Bay Minor Hockey Association will hold their annual banquet on Saturday, May 27th, at the Moose Hall beginning at 6:00 p.m. This year's banquet should prove to be rather interesting as there will be a number of awards to be presented to both local teams and representative teams as well. Pres- entations will be made to the winners of the house leagues, individual awards to players in the various leagues, presentation of North Shore awards and the presentation of the Coach of the Year award. Parents are encouraged to attend the banquet and tickets are available through Paul Pluta, George Dashkewytch, Maurice Dozois and the Recreation Office. Red Cross and Royal Life Instructors Courses: The Recreation Office has received information from the Canadian Red Cross Society and the Royal Life Saving Society pertaining to an instructors course and requalification course which will be held in Thunder Bay from June 19th to 23rd. and the re- qualification for instructors course will be held on Saturday, June 24th. Anyone requiring further information on these courses should contact the Recreation Office at 3542. Ladies 'Keep Fit' Classes: Session 74 for the ladies ' Keep Fit' classes is scheduled for Thursday, May 25th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Terrace Bay campus auditorium. Registrants are reminded to attend their sessions on time. PROGRAMME REMINDERS: Tennis - A reminder to tennis enthusiasts that the courts are now in playable shape. Keys are available to Recreation members only at $1.00 each, which is refundable when the key is returned to the Recreation Office. Roller Skating - Roller Skating sessions are held on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Terrace Bay arena. Swimming - Registrations for the swimming programme will be circulated throughout the schools during the first week in June. Swimmers are urged to do some thinking about what classes they would like to register for this coming summer. It is hoped that the swimming pool will be available for use by the third full week of June. A complete maintenance program me is presently being carried out at the pool and swimmers will have a very good facility to use this summer. Theatre Ontario: The Recreation Office has received information from Theatre Ontario, which has been recently form- ed to be the voice of Theatre in Ontario. Theatre Ontario is actively engaged-in: professional training for community theatre - audience development - maintaining information on human and technical theatrical resources - promoting Canadian plays and playwrights - organizing theatre conferences and festivals - encouraging multicultural theatre. cont'd page 11 ......
