Harris to puchase wool and apron supplies for the Christmas bazaar. Mrs. 1. Marsh stated that plans were well underway for the St. Patrick's Tea and Bake sale, to be held in the church hall on Saturday afternoon, March 18th. Tickets are available from members of the Auxiliary. Membership cards are now available and may be pur- chased from Judy Mercer. The rummage sale to be held in April will be con- vened by Mrs. R. Stevens and Mrs. F. Liebrock. A discussion was held on the time most suitable to hold the auxiliary meetings, and it was decided to op- en the meetings at 8 p.m. rather than 8:15 as it has been in the past. : Mrs. Soughton thanked the ladies who participated in the World Day of Prayer held in St. Martin's of Tours. Mrs. Thompson introduced Mr. John L. Scott, of the Department of Northern Affairs, guest speaker for the evening. Mr. Scott has an office in Marathon, but is available to the people of Terrace Bay twice a month, when he can be contacted by calling the Mu- nicipal Office. Mr. Scott outlined his work, and held an informative and interesting question period. Mrs. Thompson thanked Mr. Scott for taking the time to visit the Auxiliury. Lunch was served by Mrs. C. Ro- pchan and Mrs. E. Hodgkiss. RECREATI ON NEWS TERRACE BAY MIDGETS VICTORI OUS This past weekend the Terrace Bay Midgets had their work cut out for them after losing the first game of a 2-out-of-3 series by a score of 6-2. On Saturday evening, March 11th, the Midgets travelled to Mani- touwadge hoping to win that game and so force a 3rd and deciding game on Sunday. From all reports, our boys played extremely hard and defeated Manitouwa- dge 5-2. R. Hamilton picked up 2 goals, with Heen- an, Randa and E. Zwaresh picking up singles. This forced a third and deciding game which was played on Sunday, March 12th, at 1:30 in Terrace Bay . Mark Dashdewytch picked up a hat trick with Ed Zwaresh getting a single goal . Congratulations are certainly in order to all the Midget players as well as to Team Coach Les Kruger and Team Manager Stan Zwaresh. INTER-ASSOCIATION ZONE FINALS THIS WEEKEND . By vir tue of our Midget win over Manitouwadge, the Terrace Bay Midgets now advance to the Inter- Association Finals whichwill be played this week- end. : The winner of the Lake Nipigon Minor Hockey Midget series was Red Rock and as a result the Ter- race Bay Midgets will play Red Rock in a 2-game total-goal series. The winner of this series will then advance to the Northwestern Ontario District Mid- get playoffs, which is being hosted by Manitouwad- ge. Our Midgets will travel to Red Rock for the first game this Friday evening, March 17th. The second game of the series will be played in Terrace Bay on Sunday, March 19th, at 1:30 p.m. sharp. Our Midgets are hopeful that fan support at this Sunday's game will be comparable to that for the game played this past Sunday, March 12th. WHY NOT ATTEND? O.M.R.A. RECREATION CONFERENCE VERY SUCCESSFUL A total of 30 delegates registered for the Ontario Municipal Recreation Association conference which was held in Terrace Bay this past weekend, March 10th and 11th. Among the 30 delegates were two consultants from the Youth and Recreation Branch of the Department of Education, Miss Marlene Lindsay of Thunder Bay and Mr. Rocco Losole from Dryden. Sessions covered subjects such as the role and function of Recreation committees and their members, local problems pertaining to the use of school func- tions and equipment, and the recent develpment of At the business meeting of the conference, a very important resolution was passed requesting that the Department of Education to the Department of Soc- ial Services. It was generally resolved that local municipal recreation committees and town councils will follow suit by forwarding their own resolutions to our local M.P.P. and the Premier of Ontario.
