EVENING PRAYFR = 7:00 P.M. 32 rown orcs ob PUBLIC SPEAKING The Knights of Columbus Public Speaking Contest between Holy Angels of Schreiber and St. Martin's of Terrace Bay was held in the High School auditor- ium on Sunday evening, March 5th. Mr. M. Anderson, principal of St. Martin's, was the Master of Ceremonies, and introduced the contes- tants by number only, till after the judging was done. Judges were principal of the Public school, Mr. Ken Macleod, Mrs. Sandra Angelini and Mr. Carl Gor- ham. Mr. Ed MacAdam was time keeper. A great deal of preparation had been put into the choice of topic and the delivery on the part of each contestant. The subjects were varied and interesting, and the judges had a difficult time making their final decisions. Those who won in each division were: Primary: = Donna Lapenskie; Junior:= Jane Zwaresh; Senior:= Jane Anne Doyle; all of St. Martin's School . While the judges retired after each division, to make their decisions, the Kindergarten and Grade 1 of St. Martin's e®tertained, presented a play, direc- ted by Sister Paulette, with Mrs. Ruth Mitchell at the piano. In the second intermission, a young band from Schreiber gave a number of delightful musical selec- tions. Grand Knight Mel Nichol, presented plaques and trophiés to the winners, and each of the other contestants received a prize for taking part. Those taking part were Primary: Susie Costa, Paul Moorey, Holy Angels, Gwenn Melnyk, Don- na Lapenskie; St. Martin's; Junior:- Irene Berg- eron, Jane Zwaresh, Patti Regis, St. Martin's; Franca Costa, Diane Dietrich, Rose Commisso, Holy Angels; Senior:- Cathy Maggio, Kim Karns, Holy Angels; Leigh Ann McBride, Jane Anne Doyle, St. Martin's.
