ROSSPORT The regular monthly meeting of St. Berchman's Altar Society was held Thurs. evening at Mrs. Herb Legault's home. Mrs. Legault vice-pres. presided in the absence of the president Mrs. Kenney. She open- ed the meeting wih prayers for the World Day of Pra- yer and welcomed the members present who turned out in 24 below weather for the meeting. The secretary Mrs. M. Hubelit read the minutes which were approves as read on motions of Mrs. P, Testori and Mrs. E. Gerow. Mrs. Todesco gave the financial report which was adopted on motion of Mrs. Schelling and Mrs. H. Legault. Accounts were passed for payment and correspondance included letters from Chapples, Novalis Center and Mrs. Kenney. Stand- ing committees tabled their reports. . Several articles of sewing, fancywork and novelties were handed in for the penny auction which brings well over 100 articles for the spring project. Each member sported a green ribbon honouring St. Patrick's Day and many Irish Jokes were heard. A sto- ry on the life of St. Patrick the patron saint of Ireland was read by Mrs. Todesco. Some members bought tickets as a member of the McCausland Hospital co-operation. It was reported that several boxes of good used clo- thing were destributed where needed. Closing prayer were for world peace and deceased villagers. A bingo was planned for Sun. April 9th. Following adjournm- ent the hostess served luncheen. FUNERAL Harry Bain, age 78, of Pinewood Court died in hospital Tues, Feb. 29, following a lengthy illness. Born in Moose Factory, Hudson Bay he came to Ros- sport as a child when his parents moved here from the north. The funeral services for Mr. Bain were held in Rossport Friday afternoon from McNally's Funeral parlour, Schreiber to Rossport Union Church with Rev. E. Prinselaar officiating .Burial was in Rossport Cemetery. Survived by one son Henry Narcius of Rossport, two brothers Thomas Bain of Chapleau and Alex Bain of Thunder Bay, six grandchildren and several neives and nephews and in-laws in the district. Pre- deceased by his wife and one brother and sister. Pallbearers were Romeo Bouchard, Bill Hubelit, Isadore Ray, Wm Schelling. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Campbell and son Danny of Thunder Bay visited relatives here on the weekend. Clem Downey has returned from a 3 month holiday with relatives in Boise, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. J. Mickleson and baby have return- ed from a holiday in Nipigon. Miss Agnes Mushqush has left for a holiday in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. D. Henderson of Thunder Bay spent a few days at their cottage here.
