MARCH 16, 1972 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 PENINSULA RACEWAYS NEWS With only three months to go until the 1972 Stock Car racing season begins, preparations for the new season are well under way. The rules for the building of the cars are now out. At this time it may be noted that the 1971 rules have been used as the basis for a rule freeze. This set of rules will be good until the end of the 1973 Stock Car season. There have been a few additions to this year's rules some of which are: (1) no cars are to be bought or sold during a race meet; (2) electric fuel pumps may be used. An emergency shut-off must be clearly mar- ked and located on the left hand side of the rear window package tray. There have also been some changes made concern- ing the point system this year. On the first day of the racing season a bonus of 10 points will be given to every car which races that day. On every raceday therea fter, 5 points will be given to cars qualifying to race and completing a minimum of one lap in their own heat. In future issues of the Terrace Bay News we shall explain in detail some of the new rules and changes in procedures and also call for the registration of cars for this year.
