TERRACE BAY NEWS _Vol. 15 No. 10 MARCH 9, 1972 15 ¢ PER COPY O.M.R.A.ZONE "A" SPRING C ONFERER- ENCE IN TERRACE BAY 'This coming Friday and Saturday, March, 10th and 11th, the Terrace Bay Recreation Committee will be hosting the Ontario Munic- ipal Recreation Association Zone"A" Confere- nce, to be held at the Recreation Cantre. Zone "A" of the Ontario Municipal Recre- ation Association covers the communities of Schreiber, Terrace Bay, Marathon, Heron Bay and Manitouwadge . This conference will begin at 7:30 Friday evening and continue until 6:00 p.m. Saturday The conference isopen to anyone interested in Recreation, particularly recreation commif- tee members, municipal council members, teachers and leaders of community groups and organizations. The conference fee is $5.00 per delagate, which covers a social on Friday lunch and dinner on Saturday, all coffee breaks and materials. Here is your opportunity to take part in the development of Recreation on an area basis. For more information, contact the Recreation Office at 825 - 3542. ALL JOY BE YOURS Churches throughout the world were spirit= ually united on Friday March 3, as millions of Christians gathered to observe the 45th annual World Day of Prayer. This annual event is un- der the auspices of the International Committee for the World Day of Prayer and is planned by women on both sides of the Iron Curtain. Each church in the 165 countries participating in the World Day of Prayer program, uses identical services, regardless of denominations. In Canada, more than 120 denominations take part in the service, titled, "All Joy Be Yours". St. Martin's of Tours hosted the World Day of Prayer in our community. Services were well attended by members of the Community Church and St. Martin's of Tours. Mrs. J. Schritt and Mrs. G. Ramsay welcomed the ladies with programs as they came into the church. Mrs. G. Dashk- ewytch was the leader and Mrs. S. Dampier was at the or- gan. Hymns chosen for the service were, "Here We Are, Joy is Like the Rain, Prayer of St. Francis, and They'll Know We Are Christians". Mrs. F. Helmink and Mrs. T. Dorland gave the extemp- orary prayers. ' Mrs. Soughton gave the address. Her theme was, "All Joy Be Yours". She also explained the "logo", the official symbol of the Women's Inter~Church Council of Canada. It is described as "the hand that cherishes the flame of the spirit is one with the hand that blesses it". Mrs. A. Cadieux said the Benediction prayer. Mrs. E. Berndtson and Mrs. J. Ruzyski collected the offering of gifts. The offerings from the World Day of Prayer Services across Canada provides aid for a variety of Ecuminical projects around the world, including, literary relief and outreach. . Mrs. A. Regis and her committee served coffee during the social hour that followed the service.
