Bourke (Separate School Playground. ). Council will meet with this group to study the pos- ition of a recreation director and recreation co-ordin- ator. Concern was expressed over the amount of tax ar- rears and it was decided to take steps to collect these. A letter was sent to the Hudson's Bay Co. welcom- ing their store, The Bay, to Schreiber. : A letter was also sent to Mr. and Mrs. Pat Conley, conveying congratulations on Mr. Conley's transfer and promotion, by the Bank of Montreal, to Thunder Bay, and also expressing the community's appreciation of the active interest both have taken in various fown affairs. Mr. Conley through the Kinsmen and other associations and Mrs. Conley in the Girl Guide Mo- vement with the Brownies. C .W.L. MEETING Father F.J. Meyer's address on "Youth in our Ch- anging World" was much enjoyed by the local Cath- olic Women's League members and their guests, mem- bers of St. Martin of Tours in Terrace Bay at the mee-| ting on Feb. 13. A collection of one per cent of money spent on luxury items by members, to be forwarded to the Dev- elopment of Peace Fund, will be taken up at the March meeting. There was a certain amount of amu- | sed comment by members concerning the place of cos- metics as luxuries or necessities. . Mrs. Mary Kaczmiercjak, convener of the March 17 combined tea, bake sale, and penny auction, urged members to contribute generously. This will be held in the town hall both in the afternoon and evening. Mrs. Claire Power reported the World Day of Pray= er is to be held in Holy Angels Church this year, the service at 7:30, March 3, with Sister Marvel, prin- cipal of the Separate School, as the guest speaker. A practice for the service, will be held on February 24, at 7:30. The theme this year is Joy. Following the service a visiting hour with lunch served, will be enjoyed in the parish centre. Bishop Gallagher, of Thunder Bay, will conduct a confirmation service on Sunday, February 27, at 4p.m. An informal discussion found the members deeply concerned over the lack of leadership for the organ- ization, the dearth of younger volunteers to fill the necessary offices. The work is generously supported, but, in order to carry on, officers must be found. Other organizations, it appeared, are facing the same pro- blem with no solution as yet found. The Schreiber Club will host the Kinsmen Zone 4 annual bonspiel, "March 17,18 & 19. Some fifty are expected to attend from Thunder Bay, Geraldton, Nip-Rock, and executive officers from Winnipeg. A social evening will be enjoyed on Saturday and the business will be held on Sunday. Mrs. Lillian Parent became the first past president of the Ladies" Auxiliary to the U.T.U. - this assoc= iation formerly the Lady Trainmen. Mrs. Georgina Davis presented Mrs. Parent with her' pin at the February meeting. Following the meeting a penny auction was played and lunch was served by Mrs. Nettie Thrower and Mrs. Margaret Randel. The next regular meeting will be held on Thursday, March 9. Mrs. L. Albertini of Thunder Bay is visiting her sister Mrs. Bill Thrower.
