PAGE 8 TERRACE BAY NEWS FEBRUARY 10, 1972 PUBLIC NOTICE TOWN OF TERRACE BAY MINOR HOCKEY WEEK IN TERRACE BAY WHEREAS, the week of February 12th is being observed in Terrace Bay as a period to focus public attention on the physical, character-building and other benefits of hockey for our: youth, and WHEREAS, the game of hockey is recognized as Canada's National Game which teaches our youth to develop a com- petitive spirit, co-operation with others, body-building , and respect for authority, and ; WHEREAS, it is the hope of every municipality to ~ develop one or more players capable of representing Canada as a member of Canada's National Team, and WHEREAS, the Minor Hockey Association in this community has earned the commenda- tion and support of every citizen, and WHEREAS, Minor Hockey is the foundation from which accomplished hockey players develop, NOW THEREFORE, 1, as Reeve of Terrace Bay do hereby declare the week commencing February 12th be observed as "MINOR HOCKEY WEEK IN TERRACE BAY" and request that all parents and others support this observance by attending games during Minor Hockey Week and thereafter until the minor hockey season ends. AND STAY to see him play MILLION MAN HOUR SAFETY RECORD ESTABLISHED The Terrace Bay Mill Technical Department per- sonnel completed one million safe man hours of oper- ation on February 1st. This crew comprising of 20 members have not experienced a disabling lost time Four members of the present crew, Harry Coe, Reg Cotton, Harvey McCanna and Hugh Brophy, have been members of the department during the 23 year period that this record was being established. The Technical personnel are involved in various types of work assignments including equipment in- spection, process testing and laboratory analysis and are exposed to all of the associated work hazards encountered in a mill operation. E This outstanding safety record achievement can be attributed to the work of their department safety k committee and a personal desire on the part of each crew member to perform their work in a safe manner. = To mark the occasion a coffee and doughnut get- together was held. This will be followed by a dinner for the members of the department at the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel in recognition of this outstadning safety record.
