FEBRUARY 10, 1972 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 TED YOUNG HONOURED. ON RETIREMENT Mr. and Mrs. Ted Young were guests of honour at a social evening held in the Masonic Hall on February 5th. Marking the occasion of Ted's retire- ment from Kimberly-Clark after 36 years as Supervisor of Steam Plant. Joan and Wayne, Barbara and Bruce Young were official hosts for the party, assisted by Connie and Bill Thomas, and Sharon and Alan Teskey . Ted Brown made the presentation of a gift of money, on behalf of Ted's many friends who had dropped in to wish him well. The gift was intended to buy a TV for the Young's new trailer, in which they plan to spend a few months in warm and sunny Florida. Len Pineault on behalf of the Steam Department crew presented a pair of binoculars to Ted. Special guests attending the retirement party were Ted's brother Bert and Teresa Young from Sault Ste. Marie and Mrs. Don Burley, of Woodland, Maine. * FUNERAL SERVICE HELD FOR JACK WELLINGS Funeral services for Jack Wellings, 61, who passed away on | Thursday, February 3rd were held in the Community Church on Saturday, February Sth, at 2 p.m. Rever- end Peter McKague officiated, with Mrs. Ellen Hodgkiss at the organ, and the choir in attendance. x Mr. Wellings was born in London, England, and moved to Virden, Manitoba, where he was raised and educated. He had resided in Terrace Bay for the past 24 years, where he was employed by Kimberly-Clark as Townsite foreman, latterly as Foreman of Building and Trades. He was going to take an early retirement in April of this year, and planned to travel to the West Coast. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, 662; life member of the Terrace Bay Curling Club; mem- ber of the Aguasabon Golf Club; past president of the Kiwanis Club; past chairman of the Recreation Committee and had served on Town Council and the official Board of the Community Church. Surviving are his wife, Peggy and a son Norris of Vancouver, one brother Reg of Winnipeg, a sister Nell, Saskatoon and two grandchildren. A Masonic Memorial Service was held in the Mc McNally Funeral Home, Schreiber, on Friday even- ing at 7 p.m. 4. Pall bearers were E. Kennedy, D. Laporte, S. Lundberg, D. Rattray, Dr. J. Whiteside, W. Megraw, Honorary pall bearers were B. Ratchford, Dr. M. McCausland, A. Pattison, B. Buy, T. Young and J. Winters. : . The service was largely attended by Kimberly- Clark officials and co-workers, friends and members of both the local and Thunder Bay curling clubs. He will be sadly missed. Piper, Jim Piper, Bill Gray, Nick Pustina, Mike Morrison, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Gray, all of Thunder Bay, as well as friends from Rossport and Schreiber. Interment took place in the Terrace Bay Cemetery. G. BROPHY PASSES AWAY Funeral services for George Brophy were held in St. Martin's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, Feb. 2nd at 4 p.m., with Father A. Greengrass officiating. Mr. Brophy, died on January 30th, in his 85th year in the McCausland Hospital. Born and educa- ted in Ottawa he graduated from McGill University as a Civil Engineer. He moved to Port Arthur in 1921, and was employed by the Federal Department of Public Works and retired in 1953, then moved to Terrace Bay in 1954. He is survived by his wife, Eva, three sons, Patrick of Fort Churchill, Man.; Hugh of Terrace Bay, Dennis, of Manitouwadge, -one daughter, - Sheila, Mrs. J. Todd, Renfrew, also eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Pall bearers for Mr. Brophy were R. Mitchell, B. McDonald, L. Duquette, V. Fenton, J. Caccamo and C. Gorham. Interment took place in Terrace Bay Cemetery. The Canadian Forestry Association is a non-profit Federation of Provincial Forestry Associations from coast to coast.
