Mrs. Mavis Slater acted as vice grand in the absence of Mrs. Gloria Miller. The Charter was draped in memory of the late Mrs. Agnes Sully, a past noble grand and charter member of Ruby Rebekah, who passed away January 12. During the service Mrs. Connie Martin sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". The visiting report was given by Mrs. Slater and Mrs. Hamilton gave a report of activities and pro= jects which will be undertaken during the next few months. A penny auction is planned for February 18 in the town hall and tickets are now on sale for the draw on a pair of socks. Letters for the Make-Believe tea will shortly be mailed out by members. An invitation was received from the Rebekah Curling committee in Thunder Bay to compete in their annual bonspiel Feb. 11-13. Mrs. Miller brought greetings from the president of the Rebekah Assembly thanking the Lodge for her warm welcome. Mr. Case spoke briefly bringing greetings from the Grand Encampment. Mrs. Agnes Bryon thanked the lodge for flowers sent on her 64th wedding anniversary. - Following the meeting members and guests enjoy- ed a social hour over cards with prizes won by Mrs. Norma Fummerton for high and Mrs. Winnie Clemens for low. There was also bake and buy table in charge of Mrs. Beth Macadam. Degree practice will follow the next meeting. Mrs. Pearl Rattray of Sudbury is the guest of her sister Myrtle = Mrs. George Gordon. ROSSPORT Glen Martin of Winnipeg visited relatives here last week. His father Dominic Martin accompanied him home for a month's holiday . Ron Lanigan has left for Thunder Bay. Rev. FatherMeyer of Schreiber visited this mission Sunday . . Mrs. Mike Wannakimik has returned from McCausland Hospital . The Rossport Curling Club would up their bonspiel on Monday with Peter Mushqush skipping his team to first place. He played with only two on the team besides himself, Donny Ray and Henry Schroeder. Second place was taken by Chas Todesco's team and third place was won by Brian Ray and his team. ~ The prizes were cash. A group of young fellows Andre Nicol, Bud Crocker, Ronald Legault, Bob Elvish and Brother Art Olivier of Thunder Bay were in the village Sun- day interviewing some villagers regarding the devel- opment of the waterfront in regards to making it attractive to tourists and revitalate the village as it has great potentials for a holiday and camping grounds and ideal for a boat anchorage. Andre Nicol announced that money for the project was in the planning stage and that with the co-operation of the villagers who live here now that the town could be made attractive with shoreline clean up, docks repaired, hay cut and buildings redecorated. Old time stores and novelty shops opened again. They hope to hold a meeting here when the weather is warmer and have an idea that a weekly news letter would keep everyone interested. In the future there could be a winter sports program .- skating, tobogaganing, curling, skiing, snowshoeing etc. "THE OWL'S HOOT" THOUGHT OF THE WEEK "Character is a victory, not agift." BASKETBALL WINS: The Lake Superior Junior Boys Basketball team hosted Nip-Rock in the Terrace Bay Campus gym on January 26, 1972, and fought well against their first opponents. Nip-Rock grabbed an early lead but the Lake Superior Junior Boys won in the end by a score of 33-22. Top scorer was Robert Vanderkam with 14 points. Second highest scorer was Mark Dashkewytch with 8 pointe. v4 page 12 ... HS
