Taking part in a demonstration by members of the Terrace Bay Figure Skating Club will be: = Juniors Delana Almos, Jeanny Dorman, Norma Phillips and Leslie Josus: - Seniors Jackie Turner, Debbie Opas, Linda Dejonghe and Sharon Bougie. This event will take place on opening night - February 10th at the arena. As promised, prices for all events have been kept to a minimum. For example the events being held in the High School on Friday night are Chili Supper .75¢ per person with Button and $1.25 with out Button. Youth Dance $1.00 with Button and $1.50 without Button. Music at this Dance will be pro- vided by the Black Lightning. The dance on Saturday night at the Moose Hall will only be $1.00 per person with Button and $1.50 without Button and prices for the "Old Pros" Hockey game on Sunday are set at 75¢ with Button and $1.00 without Button and children under 12 Free! It sure will pay to get a Carnival Button and speaking of buttons the student council will be around any day now selling these. Miss Carnival Queen will be at the Shopping Plaza next Saturday to meet as many as possible before the balloting starts. Speaking of balloting we gave credit to the: wrong organization last week for this important task. Its not the Legion Ladies who will canvass the town - it's the Catholic Women's League of St. Martin's Church. Please accept our apologies ladies of the CWL and a great; big "Thank You" from the committe For weeks the committee have been trying to onc arrangements to have Miss Patty Bain of Thunder - Bay runner-up in the Miss Canada Beauty Pageant in Terrace Bay for the Carnival. Other comittments have kept this hanging but latest reports indicate that Miss Teenage Thunder Bay will be here. FLASH We've just been handed a communique from Bill Guy of Thunder Bay who says that Moe Walsh has agreed to referee the "Old Pro" game on Sunday, February 13th at the Arena. A full list of all the "Old Pros" who will play will be in the program. CURLING NEWS Come out and see the best teams in Northwestern Ontario compete for the right to go on and play » off in the Northerns, the winner of which will go on to the Brier. Eight Zones will be competing. From Port Arthur, we have Bill Tetley who forced an extra game in the Brier last year. Gord. Peterson who has also been a Brier contender, as well as Gord. McKee who is representing our Zone. From the other Zones is Jack Peerenboom from Fort William, L. Keeler from Hornepayne, Ken Kozminski from Dryden, Clyde Coons from Campbell Curling Club and Stan Cottam from Nestor Falls. Play will begin Thursday at 2:30 and continue until Sunday. BOARD OF EDUCATION JANUARY MEETING At the January meeting of the Lake Superior Board of Education the board approved the expendi- tures for the month of December in the amount of $311,371.82. On a recorded vote the resolution that preparation of budgets and reporting of disbursements be shown separately for the Schreiber and Terrace Bay campus' (high school) as has been done in the past, was defeated. The board approved the engagement of Reverend Rex Dye of Schreiber for the Schreiber-Terrace Bay Schools and Fred Anderson of Marathon for the Marathon schools as Attendance Cousellors at an annual salary of $400.00 each for the 1972 year. The Board approved memberships in the following trustees' Associations: Northern Ontario Public and Secondary School Trustees' Association Affilia- tion with Ontario School Trustees' Council Ontario Public School Trustees' Association. The appointment of Mrs. Gertrude Soughton to the staff of the Terrace Bay Public School, standard Three at $5375.00 per annum (half-time) effective January 1, 1972 was approved. The resignation of Mrs. Joan Nugent from the Terrace Bay Public School staff was accepted with regret. : The new name for the Schreiber-Terrace Bay two campus' school will be Lake Superior High School, the students' choice, was approved by the Board.
