SEPTEMBER 22, 1971 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 11 SCHREIBER WOMEN'S INSTITUTE MEETING At the September meeting of the Schreiber Women's Institute, the members and one visitor, Mrs. Linda Baxter were welcomed by the president, Mrs. John Morris. Each member responded to roll call with a donation of a dinner plate. The motto was "A wise mind grows like a savings account. Put a little into it every day". Members decided to order the new book "Ontario Women's Institute Story" and have it placed in the library. : Mrs. Wesley Clemens will attend the Area Con- vention in Rainy River on September 23rd and 24th. as a delegate from the Schreiber Branch. Resolutions were read and discussed. Mrs. Morris reported she had presented awards to Grade 8 pupils in the two local schools and a letter of appreciation was received from the Schreiber Public School . Mrs. Eileen Williamson, card secretary, had sent cheer cards and flowers to sick members during the summer. Program books were typed and finished by Mrs. J. Crook. These were distributed to the members. Mrs. W. Clemens, convener of Citizenship and Education, gave an informative report on educational television and about some new exciting experiments in Canadian Schools. The daily ETV programs and highly successful Sesame Street programs for kinder- garten children teach rudiments of learning in many subjects. New courses taught in colleges at the present time are yoga, witchcraft, flower arranging home planning, videotaping and many students are travelling in Canada or foreign countries to gain credits for courses. At the next meeting on October 12th there will be an exchange of preserves and a Halloween program arranged by Mrs. R. Macadam and Mrs. J. Campbell After the meeting members enjoyed penny auction and pot luck lunch. CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE MEETING At the regular meeting of the Catholic Women's League the meeting was opened with prayer said by Father Meyer. Mrs. Rita McGrath presided for this September meeting. g Mrs. Helen Stokes read the minutes of the previous meeting and correspondence which included thank you notes and letters from Rossport and Schreiber Libraries. The treasurer's report and the LabourDay Field Day report was read by Mrs. Rena Ross. Mrs. Claire Powers read the conveners report for Church Life and distributed signs carrying times of C.W.L. meetings. She also reported the Rosary will be recited daily during the month of October at 2 p.m. in the Church for World Peace. Mrs. Bart Kusik read an interesting article "Renewal of Organizations from within. She also reported we now have 154 members and three honorary with more to be contacted. In the absence of Mrs. Lil Gagnon, Mrs. Irene Moorey read a report on the Parish Council meeting. Mrs. Gloria Mullins, Social Action Convener re- ported on the books donated to the Rossport and Schreiber Public Libraries and to Mohert reserve, and gave her final report on the sale of cook books. The Christmas tea and bazaar will be held Satur- day, November 6th from 2 to 5 p.m. Mrs. Penny Caccamo, general convener gave a progress report and asked for volunteers to sew and donate. Mrs. Clair Power is in charge of knitt- ing. Contact her for yarn! Mrs. Rita McGrath than= ked all who donated and worked at the Labour Day field day. She also reported Mrs. Harry Shack will hold a convener workshop Thursday, October 7th at 7:45 p.m. in the Parish Centre, all conveners sub- . committee and any interested members are urged to attend. The next meeting will be held Thursday, October 14th when Mrs. Webster, District Manager for Avon cosmetics will be the guest speaker. The meeting was closed with prayers followed by lunch and the door prize was won by Mrs. Rita McGrath. DUNWOODY-SPADONI VOWS EXCHANGED A profusion of vari-colored glads adorned Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church on August 21st for the wedding of Cora Adelaide Spadoni, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.B. Spadoni, of Schreiber and Mr. Lawrence Dunwoody, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Dun- woody, of Toronto. The marriage was solemnized by Father St. James, U.G.
