Bourke, R. Mitchell, M. Nicol, M. Anderson, J. Stephens and Mrs. G. Matys, Academic Administrator. ; Minutes of the last meeting were adopted as read. Operating expenses in the amount of $12,724.59 for the month of July were approved for payment. Preference date for Education Week was discussed and trustees preferred to hold this week in October, rather than March. Miss Deborah MacDonald of Thornhill was hired to replace Mr. Gino Franco who failed to pass final exams. Insurance: re school content floater was discussed and tabled for further study. G. Ramsay, M. Nicol and Y. Beauparlant will be attending the National Convention of Catholic Trus- tees in Thunder Bay beginning September 16th. Mr. Nicol reported that roof and lights had been completed at St. Martin's and Mr. Beauparlant repor- ted that inside painting had been finished at Holy Angels School . Seven months financial statements for 1971 were distributed. Mrs. Bouchard read a letter from the Ontario Mun- icipal Board stating adjusted quota for 1971. While attending National Conference, Mrs. Bouchard and committee will inspect various schools in Thunder Bay. Mr. Stephens gave a very informative report fo the Board. A brief discussion on a sex education and family life program took place and the decision of an in- depth study of the subject be pursued by the Board and qualified personnel under the direction of Mr. Matys, Academic Administrator. Next meeting will be held at St. Martin's on Monday, October 4th, at 7:30 p.m. Meeting adjourned. : SCOUT NEWS Additional registrations for present and new Cubs, Scouts and Venturers will be accepted on Thursday, September 30th at 7 p.m. in the Scout Hall. A parent preferably the Father must be there to register the boy . Registration fees are $7. per boy and $3.50 for any adult wishing to register with the group. cont'd ii. In order to operate a successful program for the boy we must have adult help (leaders, ways and means committee, scout hall committee, etc.). Parents must indicate where they will be willifg to help. A short meeting will be held prior to registrations in order to answer any questions parents may have. "We have already begun the costing process, " added Mr. McKeough, "and in due course we will be able to estimate the costs to be borne by various pro- vincial departments and other levels of government " A major recommendation from the Northwestern Ontario Development Council that economic meas- ures be implemented within a five-year, rather than a 20-year, period was not accepted by the Government.
