Schreiber News - cont'd from page 10,....... Theatre North has done the impossible by creating, on a shoe string budget, a thoroughly enjoyable and beautiful production of the famous love story. The skills of the script writers, responsible for the adaptation of Shakespeare's play and the musical gen= ius of Robert Lindey blended into a performance both moving and entertaining. ; The band with Joe Farkas, flute (adding a haunting quality to the music), rendered valuable assistance in the accompaniment and interludes. Special lighting effects, even outstanding at times, added to the beauty of costumes and set. The company 'Theatre North! has been made poss= ible by a grant from the 'Opportunities for Youth Pro- gramme'. Although working with very limited funds Lynn Smyth, producer, and Sharon Younger, director, have been able to demonstrate convincingly what young people can do when given the opportunity. This indeed has been a summer of sound, sight and music. As the result of the increased grants made available, even smaller.towns such as Schreiber have felt the impact of the creativity and skills of groups and individuals visiting the community. The so call-= ed isoxlation of the smaller community can be a thing of the past when opportunities are accepted.
