RECREATION NEWS ART TREK A reminder that the Recreation Office is still receiving registrations for ART TREK. Here is your opportunity to take advantage of top-notch instruc- tion for a two-day period at practically no cost. Why not call the Recreation Office and register? This two~day Art Workshop will be held at the Terrace Bay Recreation Centre on July 26th-27th and is available to anyone 10 years of age and over who is'a member in good standing of the Terrace Bay Recreation Association. The instructors for this Art Workshop are quite prepared to deal with all age groups starting from 10 years of age and up. For example, the instructors will work with sub groups such as adults, teens, and pre-teens. All supplies and materials, as well as instruction, will be provided for YOU - the per- son interested in all aspects of art, particularly arcylics, batik and water colours. -This programme is being provided for the citizens of TerraceBay by the Youth and Recreation Branch of the Department of Education. Here is a tremendoug opportunity for the people of this community to take advantage of this provincial programme, so let's have people take part in it. MINOR FASTBALL'71 Playoffs have been completed in the International League and the 1971 champs were the WHIPS, who were coached by Miss Sheila Ballentine and Miss Joyce Cornfield. Winning members of the WHIPS are as follows: Danny Fournier (Captain), George Hermes, Raymond Bouchard, Greg Kodila, Pat Moher Scott Randa, Richard Morriseau, Bill Caron, Tom Chisholm, Jeff McKague, Gary Salesse, Vern Burton. At the time of this write-up, the second gamé of the 2 out of 3 game finals in the American League was fo be played on Tuesday, July 6th. Dr. Brian McDonald'sTIGERS were defeated in their first game by Rolly Moquin's ORIOLES. The first playoff game in the National League was played on Tuesday, July éth and results will appear in next week's News. Results in the Girls League were as follows: REDS 4 wins, 1 loss; WHITES - 1 win, 4 losses. The first playoff game in this league is scheduled for Thursday, July 8th, at 7:15 p.m. Why not give our local ball players your support by attending these playoff games. Pony League - Practises are still being held on a weekly basis on Monday nights at 7:15 p.m. at St. Martin's School field for boys eligible to play in the Pony League (15 and 16 years of age). If you want to be part of the action, be sure to attend these practises as Coach George Dashkewytch, Jr. is trying to get the team in shape by mid July for exhibition games this summer. ROLLER SKATING CANCELLED Due to poor turnouts at all roller skating sessions, we are forced to cancel this programme until the latter part of August or the early part of September. The number of people turning out to these sessions did not justify the continuance of this programme. We will give this programme another try later on this summer.
