Adey, of Terrace Bay, chaired the meet- ing, introducing Dr. A. Hawkins, director of the Association, John Lockwood, president and Mrs. Lockwood and Miss Gertrude Klassen, dietician, of the General Hospital. Mr. Lockwood said the discovery of insulin had given new hope to diabetics of lgading a normal fies . Best, about 1940, felt that an association of Wh ibe would be most beneficial to both patients and doctors, and the original chapter was formed in Toronto with other groups now organized from New=- foundland to Victoria. Their main purpose to teach the diabetic to help himself and others with the same problems. The Lakehead association, with 150 members, has formed several very active committees to co- ordin- ate their work: Publicity = to study the latest de- velopments; in the field hospital visiting = done every week; camp arrangers for vacations for diabetic children where, under supervision, they enjoy a holiday with others of their age and with the same problem. Dr. Hawkins stated a two day clinic has been arranged for the Lakehead, to which the public is invited. The date, sometime in the Fall, will be publicized. There wil! be two specialists attending, Dr. Earlich, of the Toronto Sick Children's Hospital and Dr. McKendry, with one of his staff, from the Ottawa General Hospital. Dr. Adey thanked the visitors and Miss Sharon Brown, Public Health Nurse, who had made the arrangements in Schreiber. Following the meeting coffee was Sova and an informal hour of visiting enjoyed. Todesco and Ray Ruthenbury of Sarnia spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Chas Todesco. Messers George and Kenneth Bruley and families of Thunder Bay were weekend visitors at their summer camp. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gerow and family spent the weekend with the Peter Kings at Chapleau. Mr. and Mrs. Chas W. Todesco were business visitors to the Lakehead this week. Andre Nicol and party were holidayers at his camp on the Nicol Island. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Legault have returned from Duluth, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. R. Skillen of Red Rock have brought their motor cruiser and anchored it at their dock. A new supply of books were delivered Thursday for the library by the Co-op library. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gerow and Mr. and Mrs. Nick Bain left by car Friday to visit relatives in Winnipeg. Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Todesco spent the weekend in Beardmore with the Jos. R. Douglases. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Minoletti have returned to Thunder Bay after visiting with the Peter Testori's. Mr. and Mrs. Danny Ray and baby of Ear Falls, Ont. have returned home after visiting relatives. Mrs. Dominic Martin has returned from a holiday spent in Winnipeg. John Zurba of Port Arthur was a business visitor here Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Legault motored to Thunder Bay for the weekend. Alfred Ray visited relatives at Gurney and Nipigon this week. Felix Legault was a business visitor to Beardmore this week. Mr. and Mrs. Bery Ray of Chippawa Falls, Wisc., have arrived for a holiday at their summer camp here. Harry Bain returned Thursday to Pinewood Court after a holiday at his home here. Ray T. Kenney was a business visitor to Fort William this week. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Bertin, Louise, Gordon and Peter of Marathon visited the Todescos during the week.
