PAGE 18 TERRACE BAY NEWS APRIL 28, 1971 SCHREIBER ANNA FIGLIOMENI HONORED AT SHOWER Miss Anna Figliomeni was entertained at a community shower in St. Andrew's United Church hall on April 19th. Receiving with her were Miss Maria Agostino, who will be her bridesmaid, Mrs. Phillipp Figliomeni, her mother and Mrs. Joe Figliomeni her fiance's mother. The tea was poured by Mrs. Raymond Agostino, Mrs, Sarah Figliomeni, Mrs. Vincenzo Costa and Mrs. Steve Maronese. Mrs. Frank Veneziano was dining room hostess. Servitors were Mesdames Joe Costa, Cosimo Figliomeni, Peter Costa, Jim Speziale, Cosimo * Diano and the Misses Rosemary and Sylvia Speziale, Rosa and Mary Costa, Angelina and Andriana Veneziano. Mesdames Peter Commisso, Jim Commisso, Joe Speziale and Frank Speziale replenished. The gifts were opened by Mary Speziale and Roseanna Speziale and the guest book circulated by Linda, Marlene and Julie Speziale. ORGANIZATIONS MAKE DATE CHANGES The United Church Women have changed the date of the May meeting from the 4th to the 3rd, starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Church hall. The guest speaker, Rev. Gilmour Beattie of the Canadian Bible Society will show films and lunch will be served. The Anglican Church Women and the C .G.I1.T. have been invited and the public will be welcomed. The Women's Institute have had to change the date of their penny auction from May 28 to May 14 starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall. The Institute is marking its 44th anniversary on May 11 at their meeting in the town hall starting at 2 p.m, Past members and officers are urged to attend. There will be a potluck supper and social hour . GUIDES AND BROWNIES HOLD TEA Twenty guides and brownies were kept busy serving the daintily appointed tables at their tea on April 24th, Assisting, in the kitchen were Chery Karns and Mesdames June Sisson, Shirley Major, Marcie Cebrario and Betty Huard. Tina Cebrario and Cindy McKay were cashiers and the baking was sold by Mrs. Arlene Conley and Cindy Kostecki, Karen Thrower and Cindy Ray. The door prize was won by Mrs. George Walsh. Jim, Dan, Marjorie and Anita Smith of St. Jos- eph's Island are visiting Mr. and Mrs. D'Arcy Mc- Guire and their grandmother, Mrs. Archie Smith. Virginia May, Patrick McParland and Dale Sisson have been accepted at Guelph University in the Spring admission semester. They will register on May 3rd.. ; Mr. and Mrs. Brian Duncan, with Heather and Brian junior, of McKenzie Island, have been visiting 1 Mr. and Mrs. Leonard O'Brien. Mrs. Robert Oldale and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Beth Oldale of Thunder Bay spent the week with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Huminicki. An unexpected Walter's Falls re=union was held in Schreiber over the weekend, when Miss Donna Shute, arriving to join the high school staff, dis- covered that Tom Quinton, of the public school staff, from her home town, lived here, and that his mother Mrs. Eva Quinton and Mrs, Hilda Menary were visiting at his home. The Anglican Church Women, at their April meeting, decided to serve turkey patties, salads and home made rolls at their Mother's Day tea this year - the event to be held in their church hall on May 8th. There will also be a table of home baking for scale. Donations were made to the Cancer Fund and the Easter Seals. Mrs. Flora Bryson and Mrs. Haxel Bailey were named to attend the annual A.C. W, meeting in North Bay beginning on May 2nd. Mrs. Bailey presided for the meeting and minutes and treasurer's reports were adopted as read by Mrs. Inga EHicott and Mrs. Bryson. REBEKAH'S WELCOME DISTRICT DEPUTY Mrs. Rose Hadfield, District Deputy president of District 41, was presented with a corsage and intro=- duced and welcomed by Mrs. Florence Whent and Mrs Beth Macadam, at the regular Ruby Rebekah meeting. Other visitors welcomed were Mrs. Inez Morris, P.D.D.P.; Mrs. Alice Lindstrom, P.N.G. both of Agate Lodge and Mrs. Esther Nelson of. Sapphire cont'd page 19. a
