Members of council from Longlac, Beardmore, Nakina and Geraldton joined with the Board for a dinner that was hosted by the Town of Geraldton, At the dinner meeting, Mayor Daneff welcomed guests. Mr. Vibert, Administrator for Pinewood Court in 'Thunder Bay, was asked to comment on the assessment of the Barker Home made by senior staff members from Pinewood. Mr, Vibert explained the changing role of the Homes for the Aged, this being caused by the needs of the resident applying. The problem facing the Board is whether the Barker Home can be changed to meet this need and if so, can it be operated at a reasonable per diem rate with only twenty residents. After the dinner meeting the discussions were carried out at the Council Chambers and Mr, Fred Harness, Vice Chairman, conducted the meeting. Geraldton Council members were quick to point out that originally the Board had planned a Home in Geraldton, and they felt the Barker Home would meet a real need in the area.
