_APRIL'21, 1971 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 21 MINNESOTA BAND AT T.B. HIGH SCHOOL On Friday, April 16 the staff and students of Terr= ace Bay High School were honoured with a perform= ance of the University of Minnesota Concert Band Ensemble. This band, under the direction of Dr. Frank Ben- criscutto, has travelled extensively and toured the Societ Union in 1969. Now, on the circle route tour of Lake Superior, the band will make several stops for performances at towns including Thunder Bay, Terrace Bay, Marathon and Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. This very talented group held its high school audience captivated while they played various com= positions including two selections written by the director, Dr. Bencriscutfo. An interesting '"Concert- ino For Three Brass" included solos on the trumpet, trombone and tuba in three movements. Halfway through the concert a special group of musicians from the band performed three modern compositions arranged and directed by Mr. Steven Barnett. Mr. Barnett is a senior student of music at the University of Minnesota. A standing ovation by the students showed their enthusiasm and appreciation to this group of fine musicians. To see and hear a concert band such as this is a rare experience for Terrace Bay pupils. . The spirit of these university students and their wonderful talents that they shared with their audience will be remembered for a long time to come. QI 7
