MEN'S CURLING CLUB NEWS ANNUAL MEN'S BONSPIEL: = The 23rd Annual Bonspiel of the Terrace Bay Men's Curling Club was held held this past weekend, April 1-2-3-4. Curling began at 6:30 Thursday evening and continued to a very ex- citing conclusion late Sunday afternoon. Several local rinks made a good showing: Jack Chapman lost out to George Campbell (Thunder Bay) on the last rock in an exfra end in the "A" Event; Vic Fenton and Thor Olsen also battled to last rock in the "B" Event with Fenton winning; Dick Baron's "teacher" rink was defeated by George Podnar (Thunder Bay) in the "C" Event. At the banquet Saturday evening the "Uncle Suio Memorial Award" was given for the first time. This award has been donated by Crown Life in memory of Wes Cousineau (alias "Sulo Maki"Wwho, until his death last year, was a mainstay of the Terrace Bay Bonspiel. The participant judged to be the best "bonspieler" was "Smokey" Doug Baxter, lead on the Nalezyty rink from Thunder Bay, and Doug was presented with the "Uncle Sulo" Award for this year. | Also at the banquet, an honorary membership in the Terrace Bay Men's Curling Club was presented fo George Charlebois from Thunder Bay in recognition of his long-standing support of the Men's Bonspiel .
