TERRACE BAY HIGH SCHOOL CURLING NEWS vonday, February 22nd, saw the windup of mixed curling at Terrace Bay High School . Thirty-two boys and girls from grades 9 to 12 have been curling once a week since last November and enjoying every minute of it. The best indication of the student's interest in this club is that in spite of some very cold weather, and lot of sickness going around 7 not one single game had to be forfeited in regular TERRACE BAY NEWS league play. Competition started on November 30th, with an eight team round-robin. The winner of this event was the Werner Hermes rink, with Wendy Mcmillan at third, Gary Pinkerton at second and Teresa Falzetta at lead. They ended the round with a five win, two loss record, only one point better than the Mike Corrigan rink who had four wins, two losses and one tie. Since most people still wanted to curl for three or four more weeks, it was decided to try a bonspiel type of competition. In the main event the Werner Hermes rink again emerged the winner - beating out Cathy Graham's team. And in the consolation event it was Geralyne Waghorn winning out over Mark Caccamo. In addition to the Monday night league curling, there were two other events that should be mentioned. A one day bonspiel was held during the winter break, with competition open to all students in the school. This event was won handily by a rink consisting of Bill Brend, Jackie Turner, Charley Daley and Kerry Waghorn. Then on Saturday, January 30th, Terrace Bay High School was represented at Geraldton in a District competition by Mark Caccamo, Leslie Cotton, Jon Capar and Paulette Duquette. Although they didn't win, they had a real good time, picked up some good curling experience and will no doubt be after the top prize in this event next year. continued page 19 ...... '
