Sisters, Mobert, sent a most appreciative letter acknowledging the books sent to the school at Christmas. Other thank you notes were received for various gifts presented. These letters were read at the January meeting of the Schreiber Catholic Women's League . Mrs. Norah McGuire and Mrs. Lillian Gagnon were appointed to attend the Diocesan executive meeting in Thunder Bay. Mrs. Annie Todesco was appointed to do the parish news for the Catholic Canadian Register. It was decided to invite the members of the Catholig¢ Girls Club to the February meeting. Members were asked to turn in donations to the Penny Auction planned for March 17th when there will be a tea and bake sale. Mrs. Claire Power, who read the passage from the Scriptures also read a timely article entitled "The Beatitudes of the Lukewarm." Mrs. Irene Moorey presided for the meeting. Mrs. Victor Hannam of Ottawa is the guest of Mrs. Robert Winters while visiting other old friends in town Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Dejeet (Sharon Macadam) and son Ritchie of Waterloo are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Russell Macadam. Budd Nevills has come from the Lakehead to be the new manager in Dresswell Cleaners. A.C .W. PLAN LUNCH-IN & COFFEE BREAK The Anglican Church Women planned a lunch-in on January 29th to assist with the high school winter carnival . Featured dishes will be cabbage rolls, chili con carne and home-baked beans. The public is also welcome to attend this. Plans were also made for a coffee break on February 12th in the town hall, with a bake sale as additional attraction. The event will be from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. Mrs. Reg Bailey presided for the meeting with Mrs. Bob Ellacott reading the minutes and correspondence and Mrs. Jack Bryson giving the treasurer's report. The United Church Women have extended an in- ; vitation to the Anglican Church Women to attend their © regular meeting on February 3rd, at 8 p.m. when Mrs. F.A. Helmink of Terrace Bay will show a film on retardation entitled "Our Responsibility", SUCCESSFUL WORKSHOP HELD A most successful three day workshop was held in Schreiber to discuss all aspects of transient services. The event was co-sponsored by the Schreiber Progressive Youth (SPY) and the Department of the Secretary of State and was gttended by delegates from Sault Ste. Marie to Kenora, including Manitouwadge, Marathon, Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Nipigon, Red Rock, Thunder Bay and Dryden. The full group sessions were held in St. Andrew's United Chur ch Hall, where meals were also served and small discussion groups met in the Birchgrove Motel . Despite the most inclement weather close to fifty attended, with the following advisers = Steve Taylor, Nipigon; David Slipacoff, Department of the Secretary of State, Ottawa; Lynda Moorhouse, of Hon.
