The following commercial credits are being offered in the Marathon High School: Year 1 Typing, Consumer Education, Business Mathematics. Typing, Data Processing, Business Machines Accounting. Year 3 Business Law. Year 4 Business Finance. Video-tape and educational television equipment has been introduced in all schools and is being used to great advantage, perhaps even more than in schools which have had this equipment for a much longer time. This again attests to the calibre and en- thusiasm of the staff and the students. For example, in the Terrace Bay High School one classroom has been set up and a small studio has been prepared there. The room is free of other commitments and is used by both the secondary and elementary teachers and pupils. The attention of the Board in 1971 and 1972, should be directed to the reduction of cost per pupil, bearing in mind the Minister's letter which in effect requires the Board to reduce its cost per pupil by 1972, to a ceiling set by the Department. The car- dinal principle to be observed while doing this is that the students of this Division must have a level of educational opportunity comparable to that of students from other parts of the Province. The second problem of the new Board will be that of communications with students, staff and the tax- paying public. A good move is being made by means of a week-end conference in Terrace Bay in January. It is expected that out of this conference there will come courses of action to assist in overcoming both the problems mentioned above. Year 2 CHAPTER NIGHT - Cont'd from page 2 ...
