Cable System may have noticed that testing of Channel 3, WJMN- T.V., Escanaba, of the N.B.C. network began this week. Mr. Bert Lohr of Lakeshore Community Television Limited stated that comments from subscribers as to the quality of reception of this channel would be wel- ing the best possible reception. Application is being made to the Canadian Radio and Television Commiss- ion for permanent inclusion of Channel 3 to the system A complete up-dating of the cable system is scheduled, the contract already having been let to Bell Canada for the replacement of all existing cable routes. The date of the beginning of this undertaking will be announced later when the date is verified by Bell Canada. Mr. Lohr also announced the addition of Mr. Rudi Samp to the staff of Lakeshore Community Television Limited. Mr. Samp, formerly of Wawa, Ontario, where he was manager of the Wawa cable television system, is highly qualified in cable television systems a --- comed and would be helpful to the company in achiev having some ten years experience in this field. Mr. Samp, his wife and two young children will be mak- ing their permanent home in Terrace Bay. With the addition of Mr. Samp, the company is now able to offer a complete electronics service. Gene has 64 customers on his route and employs his two brothers to assist him making deliveries. With his father and uncles all known hockey players, Gene naturally is a strong fan, though he doesn't find time to play. And with railroading also a family tie, it is not surprising his chief hobby is an electric railway to which he keeps adding parts. Mrs. Tommy Whitton and Mrs. Wesley Miller were hostesses at a party in the former's home on October 23rd, to mark their mother, Mrs. Louise Corbett's 79th birthday . Relatives and friends from Schreiber and Terrace Bay called both during the afternoon and evening bringing lovely gifts with their good wishes. The guests were served by great grandchildren, . Pam, Patty and Lauri Nesbitt, John, Lloyd and Wes- ley Whitton. Mrs. Jack Whitton and Mrs. Neil Nes- bitt assisted in the kitchen. Mrs. Corbett of Thunder Bay was a guest of her 'aughter, Mrs. Tommy Whitton. PLANS COMPLETED FOR HALLOWE'EN SUPPER At their regualr October meeting, the Anglican Church women completed their plans for their Hallowe'en supper. A request was made to all women in the congrega- tion to donate to the Christmas bazaar table, the event being held November 21 in the Town Hall. In response to a letter from the District Associa- tion for the Mentally Retarded, asking if the A.C. W. would be interested in having a speaker or film at a meeting, it was agreed to have Mrs. D.Q. Hamilton contact the U.C.W. to get together for such an event. Mrs. Reg Bailey and Mrs. Ralph Morrill gave re=- ports on the Deanery meeting they had attended in Marathon. Members agreed to sell Church calendars again. Mrs. Bailey presided for the meeting and lunch hostesses were Mrs. Norman Glad and Mrs. Harry Jartus. * RINK COMMITTEE HOLD MEETING The rink committee at their regular meeting on October 20th decided to hold two free days of skating to open = Continued on page 20
