PAGE 14 TERRACE BAY NEWS AUGUST 27, 1970 McKay-McCuaig Vows Exchanged Thunder Bay guests were among those attending the wedding of Alda Jeanne Mc- Cuaig and David George Mec- Kay, Aug. 15 in St. John's Anglican Church, Schreiber. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman A. Mc- Cuaig of Schreiber, and the groom is the sor of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth G. McKay of Niagara Falls. Rev. Arthur Chabot of Marathon solemniz- ed the double ring ceremony before the altar adorned with yellow gladioli. Mrs. Lester McCuaig was organist and Mrs. Alec Gordon, the soloist. The bride, given in mar- riage by her father, chose white organza over peau de charme trimmed with chantil- ly lace for her gown, in prin- cess style with long lily-point sleeves and rounded neckline. Wide bands of the lace enhanc- ed the front of the skirt and a band and bows of peau de charme accented the empire waistline. A long full train fail- ing from the back of waist was adorned with lace medal- lions. Her tiered bouffant veil was held by 2 bow headdress of ruched organza centred with pearls and she carried a bouquet of yellow roses. Matron of honor Mrs. Ron- ald Yantz and br 'desmaid Miss Karen Lidkea wore yellow crepe sheaths with daisy trim marking the deeply - scooped necklines and forming wide cuffs on the short puffed sleeves. Thev had yellow pet- als in their hair and carried bouquets of white shasta dais- jes with yellow centres match- ing their gowns. William Newby was the best man and Peter McKay the usher. The noon wedding din- ner was given in St. Andrew's United Church hall. George Pierce was the master of cer- emonies and also proposed a toast- to the bride and groom. ° During the afternoon a recep- tion was held in the town hall when Mrs. McCuaig received in a mint - green chiffon dress, with long very full, cuff- ed sleeves, topped by a small vest ornamented with brilliant buttons, complemented by matching shoes and corsage of yellow roses. The grooms' mother who assisted in receiv- ing, chose a lilac shantung en- semble of a full - length coat with self - covered buttons opening over a sheath with jewelled wedding ring collar, with matching color shoes, white accessories and corsage of white roses. Music during the afternoon was provided by pianist Harold Shepherd. When Mr. and Mrs. McKay left for the west coast for their wedding trip, the bride don- ned a white lace travelling en- semble with skirt and sleeves widely flared, and wore a cor- sage of yellow roses. The newlyweds will reside in Sioux Lookout where both are teachers. John's Anglican Church Hall The groom was entertained by friends in Niagara Falls, and following the wedding rehear- sal the parents of the groom entertained at a wine and cheese party. Among those from out of town attendng the wedding in Schreiber were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth G. Mc- Kay, Peter and John McKay, Mr. and Mrs, Merrill Brown and Meryle, Mr. and Mrs. George Pierce, Miss Millicent Pierce, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shepherd, Carl Seibel, Steven and Bruce Pierce, William Newby and Barbara Allmam, all of Niagara Falls; Mrs. Howard Reid and Miss Cather- ine Reid, Espanola; Mrs. K. T. McCuaig, Heron Bay; Rev. and Mrs. A. Chabot, Mara- thon; Mr, and Mrs. Ben. F. Turner, Mrs. Barbara Petty, George Petty, Mrs. Sherry Guzzi, Miss Sheridan Ayer, Mr, and Mrs. G. L. McCuaig, Miss Lorna Larret, Miss Ka- ren Lidkea, Mrs. Ronald Yantz and Mfs. John Didych, all of Thunder Bay; Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Turner of Winnipeg; Mrs. Stella Coveney, Burnaby, B.C. and Miss Ruth Pierce, Hazelton, B.C. FRED HARNESS HONOURED ON RETIREMENT Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harness entertained '70 friends and relations at a lawn party dinner to mark Mr.* Harness' retirement from the C .P.R. service where he was a train conductor. Lovely gifts were presented and the good wishes offered most sincere to the popular couple. Follow=- ing the Schreiber tradition, the usual hoaz was accomplished, with councillor Joe Caccamo making the light hearted speech casting asperions on Fred's character and accomplishments both on the 'Road' and as Reeve of the twon, ending with a presentation of a miniature housefold facility. Despite his laugh- ter Fred managed to reply in king, to roars of applau= se. Attending the dinner from out of town were the Harness' three daughters = Miss Ora Mae and Sylvia (Mrs. John Stortini) with her husband from Sault Ste. Marie; Miss Helen from Thunder Bay; Miss Dorothy Slater (niece); Mr. and Mrs. G.L. McCauig Thunder Bay; Mr. and Mrs. John Goldstein, Chapleau and Jim Rankin of Bell's Corner, Ontario. His family and friends met Mr. Harness when he pulled in on his last run and to mark the occasion the despatchers had prepared an original pseudo set of orders, reading Condr. F.V. Harness : Next train = who cares? Order: Toil to leisure: with right over all trouble and grief: Pass all sickness when overtaken: Meet happiness at every turn: Need not register any doubts as to the appreciation of all of those who have worked with you: Wait no longer for well-deserved retirement. PRESS RELEASE For the week August 9th = 15th, 1970 One report of wilful damage is still being investigated; two disturbances were investigated without charges being laid; one report of "Assault" was received and char ges have been laid and one theft of property is still under investigation. There were eight motor vehicle collisions this past week, which resulted in approximately $3,165. damage.
