Although music is not her av- ocation now, Sister Mary Ellen said she still enjoys playing the piano and that it is a great part of her life. The second annual St. An- drew's United Church fall fair will be held in the arena Sept. 17 - 19 with the usual crowd - attracting auction. Donations for auction will be accepted by George Gordon, Gary Drake, W. Gerow or Rev. Prinselaar. Mr. and Mrs. George Cata- ford, Schreiber, have their sons, Morris, Boston, and Roger, Sar- nia, and their families visiting them. Sanford Chicoine and daugh- ters, Gaetene and Estelle, Schreiber, returned home after visiting relatives in Sudbury. Mrs. Chicoine who has been tak- ing a teaching course in Toron- to, joined them in Sudbury for the trip home. Mr. and Mrs, Lloyd Peters, Winnipeg, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gellert and Mr. and Mrs, Herb Gellert, Schrei- ber. Mrs. Yola Cebrario, Schrei- ber, visited relatives in White River over the holiday weekend. Miss Gwen Hadley, secretary- treasurer of Library Board pre- sented a farewell gift to Mrs. Andrea Hill, librarian for the past six years. Aileen Ross, jun- ior librarian presented Mrs. Hill with a long crocheted vest she made. Miss Jeanie Sedore, Belleville, is a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sisson, visiting -also with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Morrill, Schrei- ber, Bob Ryan, Schreiber, Is visit- ing relatives in Perth. Jack Richardson, Rod Relph, Tan Fummerton and Brent Kush- nierk have returned from a two- week summer course at Quadra, BC. All Sea Cadets, they partici- pated in the Navy League-spon- sored outing. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Gilmour, Almonte, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Allan Gilmour, Schreiber. Mr. and Mrs. Adjutor Gar- neau, Quebec City, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Rosaire Garneau, Schreiber. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Me- Grath and Mrs. John Power, Schreiber, attended the funeral of a cousin in Killaloe, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Pyke, Schreiber, are in Toronto visit- ing Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pyke. Floyd Burns, Lynn Lake, is visiting his father, Arnold Burns, Schreiber. Ambrose McGrath and Mor- gan McGrath, Schreiber, visited the former's sister, Sister Anna Grace in Peterborough. A round of amused reminisce ing is now taking place with the visit of Mrs. Dorothea Wyks of Toronto to the home of Mrs. Ted Wilson in Schreiber. Mrs. Wykes and her late hus- band Percy, operated the movie house in Schreiber from 1917 to 1932, and the friends are now recalling their favorite ser- jals and stars of other days -- The Girl and the Game, with Helen Holmes, a railway epie that entranced viewers with its impossibilities; The Red Circle, The Voice on the Telephone, The Bluebird Girls and many other favorites. Also remembered with delight are the more involved mems- bers of the audience who'd leap to their feet with shrill cries of warning when the villain was about to pounce on a favorite star. Wendy MacDonald and Sheila McKay are visiting with Mrs. Agnes McCouan of Schreiber. Mrs. Eva Bailey, Thunder Bay, is at Walker Lake with Mr. and Mrs, Reg Bailey of Schreiber. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Gordon and Clyde are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Brown in Kapuskasing. Brian Bailey has returned to deep river after vis- iting his parents Mr. and Mrs. Reg Bailey of Schreiber. Bryan Hiller has returned to Schrei- ber after visiting relations in Thunder Bay. Rev. Cyril McGuire of Pitts- burgh is relieving Dean Cano in Holy Angels' Parish, Schrei- ber. Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Gibson and Lauri Halonen Sr., Thunder Bay, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Holmes and Mrs. Saimi Willoughby in Schreiber. Mrs. Donald Brown was Bost: ess at a farewell party given for Mrs. Sandy Law by the Slim and trim Club in Schreiber. Mrs. Law was the club instruce tor. The coffee party lunch de« fied all club rules with a grand array of forbidden goodies. A painting by a local artist was presented to Mrs. Law who was also wished happiness in her new home. Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Brown hosted a farewell party for Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hill who are leave ing for Toronto where Mr. Hill has been transferred by CPR Signals Dept. Company officials and other friends highlighted the occasion with recollections of episodes in the Hills' seven years in Schreiber. A cake made by Mrs. Gladys Hamilton of Schreiber, depict. Ang the town and its surround ing hills, centred the buffel lunch table. On behalf of the group, Mr. Brown presented a painting by Alice Sparkes of Lake Superior beach. Anne Noonan is with the department of micro- biology (birology-research), the School of Hygiene in the electron-microscopy unit, University of Toronto. This is a fairly new field, the courses attended by doctors and technicians, with research done as well as teaching. Anne is home now visit=- ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Noonan. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stoyand of Thunder Bay are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Blanchette . Mrs. John Inshaw of Toronto and Mrs. R.J. In- shaw of Nipigon visited Mrs. Donald Brown this week . Mr. and Mrs. Wilf Hood, Mrs. Agnes Gerow and grandson Bobby, and Mrs. Mable Jennison are visit ing Mrs. Ernest O'Connor. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Stephenson of Kakabeka Falls are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Robert Winters. Mrs. Rose Corrigan of Kitchener, Ontario visited |, friends over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ford Cooper of Hamilton were here for the weekend with friends. Harvey Bedard is with the Windsor Race Track taking jockey training.
