Both are National Safoty Council awards. They will bc presented by J. Frcd Berry n Past Geroral Chnirman ond member of the Netionnl Safoty'Council's Pulp and Paper Section Executive Committec. Mr. Berry is Personncl Mrnager of JLlton Box Board Company, :.lton, Illinois. Longlnc's accidont prevention cX- pericnce at Terrance Bay was of such a nature during 1951 tht it was recognized by the Notional Safety council under a.ncew plan set up by its Industrial Conferencc. The Comprny qualified for the ".werd of Merit" (sccond highest award now given by the National Safety Council to industry) with a frequency rate of 3.5 (72% better than par) and no severity rate of .11 which bettercd par by 90%. The wiwnrd of Merit" will be accepted at the August lst ceremony by Longl~e's Mill Man~ger, D.C. Porter, The "Cortific-te of fchievement™ was won in the 1951 Paper Industry Safety Contest sponsored by the Nntional Safety Council's Pulp "nd Paper Section. It will be accepted by Dan Gillis, President of Local 665, Intornntionnl Brotherhood of Pulp Sulphite and Paper Mill Yorkers.
