Your committee has been fortunate in obtaining a recording of important and mem- or-ble speeches made by world femous people in the period between the early thirties and the close of the second world war. Hear the abdication of Edward V11l; hear Churchill, Roosevelt, Hitlor and Stalin; hear Lou Gehrig say goodbye to baseball for ever; and hear the voices cf other such notnobles in person. It is guarenteed to bring back some old mem- ories and will also be educational for the children. Our film featurc this week entitled "Great Lakes!" deals with just that - a cruise botween the Lakehend and the eastern lakes. A second film dealing with the St. Lawrenco will also be shown for your enjoyment, Both of these films on Canada's major waterway are worth seeing and should not be missed by any- one. Chairman Bob Shirriff is arranging a novel twist to our usual sing song and it should prove both popular and amusing. The programme will be brought to a clcse with cske and coffee and tea served by the committee, Our last meeting on April 6th was the best attended Fireside Hour since they were organized but we'd like to breck that record this Sunday, This can only be done if you (continued in next col.)
