CURLING CLUB NEWS: Plans are shaping up for the regular season's play, and the Draw Committee has announced the next two Bonspiel events, Following the wind-up of the Turkey Bonspiel next week, a new event -- The New Year's Bonspiel -- will get under way immediately. Rinks for this event were set up on a lottery basis, and may the best rink win! If any "packed rinks" bob up, blame it on old lady luck, the same gol who could bring you n five pound speckled trout next surmer., Skips hove been given copies of rink lists for this event and they will be cont-ot- ing their curlers shortly. Schedules of play will also be released in the ne~r future and copies of these will also be given to the skips, with extra copies posted in the Club House, Next feature of the season, after the New Year's Bonspiel, will be the Hiram Walker Trophy cvent, This is to be a skips entry affnir, with onch skip contacting his favoure ite third, second and lead to mnke up his rink, We predict this will create something of a scramble, so skips had better get busy right away if they want to build the stronge est possible rinks, Rinks must be entered by their skips in writing not later than January 10th, Send lists to Ray Williams in the Accounting office, It is understood that the skip will personally contact each of his prospective curlers and obtain their agree ment to play on his rink before the list is turned in. Prizes will be awarded to the New Year's Bonspiel winners ot the annual banquet, Prizes will nlso be given for the Hirnm Walker event along with the trophy. The Turkey Bonspiel, now approaching a conclusion, will be resumed on Monday even- ing, the first free night after shut-down. Ten more gemes remain to be played -- five championship and five consolation, In champ- ionship play Ostling and Garvin meet in the semi-finals and quarter finals find Allen vs Monteith and MacMillan vs McColl, On the chicken side Marsh and Boudreau have progres- sed to the semi-finals while Bycrs vs Vali- grodsky and "ellings vs McInnes nrc the quarter finals gomes coming up. Watch for the schedule of play! Several more interesting events are in the blue-print stage and will be announced ns the season moves along.
