ROUTLEY Correspondent ASHBURN -- The sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Mole and her daughter, Pearl, in the loss of a dear husband' and father, the late Robert Mole, who passed away at the Oshawa Gen- eral Hospital. - Rev. McGowan of Uxbridge con- ducted hig funeral service at Burn's Church on Thursday, April 16, at 2.30 p.m. Interment took place in the Ashburn cemetery. YPS ME G The regular weekly meeting of the Ashburn YPS was held in the basement of Burn's Church on Sun- Deeming led in a song service after which Glenna Bradley took charge of the worship period. The hymn, "The Banner of The Cross', was sung. The scripture lesson Acts 8, verses 1-26 was read and Jog and David Bradley sang a duet, 'Love Divine', Mrs. Deeming offered prayer and the worship period closed with the singing of the hymn, "Saved". The president, Kenneth Heron, took charge. A solo, 'Why Not Turn to Jesus", was sung by Mary Stev- ens, after which everyone joined in the singing of hymn 17, "Faith of Our Fathers", Doris Heron, convener of Evan- gelism and Stewardship, gave the topic and gave an interesting talk on "What a Great Job We as Young People Have To Do". The meeting closed with th e hymn, "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" and prayer by Kenneth Heron. LADIES' BIBLE CLASS The regular monthl meeting of the Ladies' Bible Class was held at the home of Mrs. Fred Daw on Tuesday eveing, April 21, with a good attendance. The theme of the meeting was "Finding God Through Quiet Think- ing". The hymn, "He Hideth My Soul", was sung and Mrs. G. Childs read the scripture lesson, 1st Sam- uel, chapter 1, verses 1-10. Mrs. Batten read the hymn, 'Dear Lord and Father of Mankind', as a pray- er, and Mrs. Deeming led in pray- er, Mrs. C. Bryant, Mrs, G. Childs, Mrs. N. Anderson and Mrs. A. Rey- nolds were appointed ag the visiting committee for May. Mrs. Sparks kindly invited the members to her home for the next meeting and Mrs. E. Heron and Mrs. A, Paynter were appointed as the program committee. Mrs. R. Richardson and Mrs. E. Heron, on behalf of Mrs. Robert Heron, expressed thanks to the membesr for their many acts of kindness during their recent illness. Mrs. Luther Bradly took charge of the program. A poem "Hepa- ticas' by the well-known poet, Edna Jacques, was read by Glenna Brad- ley. The topic, "Mary and Martha", was given by Mrs. F. Daw. A poem, "A Moment in the Morning", was read by Mrs. F. Lynde. "Sophies' Second 'Sermon", which has a note of humour in if but also much food for thought, was read by Mrs. W. Routley. Mrs. C. Graham, on behalf of the members, extended a vote of thanks to Mrs. Daw for her kind hospitality. A dainty lunch was served by the refreshment commit- tee and everyone enjoyed a social chat together.
