Mrs. Ray Ratcliffe was guest speaker. Mrs. Ratcliffe gave a talk on three books, recently read, and also some poems. There was an attendance of 21. No services at Kedron, Sunday, Oct. 24th. All will want to attend Harvest Home services at Colum- bus, where Rev. R. H. Wylie is to preach morning and evening. Members of Kedron Church are invited to meet Rev. R. H. and Mrs. Wylfe at the Adult Bible Class social evening at Mr. Harold Werry's, Monday, Oct. 25th. . Messrs. William and Robert Werry and John Glover, Miss Mur- fel Werry attended Bay of Quinte Conference Rally at Peterborough, Friday evening to Sunday p.m. and report successful, inspiring sessions Mrs. E. Mountjoy and Mrs. J. Glover attended Presbytery W.A. at Columbus on Tuesday. There was a fine attendance and interesting and helpful program. Mrs. A. A. Crowle is the new president. Next semi- annual meeting will be held in Bimcoe St. United Church, Oshawa, next spring. Mrs. E. Mountjoy was elected to the nominating commit- tee and Mrs, J. Glover to the Tem- perance and Citizenship Committee. Jeanine Werry is making good wecovery following tonsil operation in Oshawa Hospital Friday. 'We are glad to know Mrs. A. Hep- burn continues tc improve in Osh- awa Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Chacanias were dinner guests at Mr, Cecil Pascoe's, Solina, Sunday. Mr. S. E. Werry, Solina; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hear, Bowmanville; Mr. and Mrs. Enniskillen, recently called on Mr. and Mrs. Rich, J. Luke. Rev. W. F. Madden, Brechin, preached an earnest sermon on Sunday, and was much appreciated. Mrs. H. F. Werry and Mr. Harold Werry attended the funeral of their cousin, the late Mr. George Speight, Oshawa, on Monday. We extend sympathy especially to Mrs. eicht (nee Ada Staihton) and to all beréaved relatives and friends. Of wide interest was the pretty autumn wedding which took place in Kedron Church Saturday -after- noon when Irene Joyce Crossman Ernest A. Werry, || and Alfred John Boyd Ayre were | joined in marriage. We join in| congratulations and best wishes for | many happy years of wedded bliss | for this popular young couple. H The beautiful wedding flowers | were left in the church for Sunday's service and then distributed to sick and shut-in members of the con- gregation. Many thanks on their behalf. Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Stainton, Mrs. Adam Hawley, Peterborough, Miss Eileen Stainton, Oshawa, were week-end guests at Mr. R. E. Lee's. Mr. Fred Stride, Mrs. Stride (nee Evelyn Tremeer) and Miss Sarah Stride, Shirehampton, near Bristol, England, visited their cousin, Mrs. H. F. Werry and Miss Wilma Werry, Thursday for supper and the eve- ning. Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Werry and family, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Werry joined the party for the evening. Mrs. H. F. Werry joined Mr. and Mrs. Stride and Miss Stride, visiting at Mr. W. F. Batty's on Friday and who were overnight guests at Mr. H. M. Brown's, Oshawa, where Mrs. Werry remained for the week-end. Display Windows (Continued from Page 1) Scout. Laid out in front of a col- ored portrait of the late Lord Ba- den Powell, is a complete Scout uni- form. In the window of Kinloch's Ltd. The St.. Johns Ambulance Associa- tion has built a most realistic model of a traffic accident. At- tendant on the models of injured people are St. Johns members and with them is an ambulance. The whole display is illustrative of one of the cardinal purposes of the organization, namely, to render skilled first aid and intelligent as- sistance prior to the arrival of the doctor. The use of the triangular band- age is well illustrated on a model / properly bound up for a shoulder injury. Also displayed are hand- books of various kinds and medical kits, C.R.A. Work Illustrated Leatherwork, woodwork and oth- er handicrafts taught by the Osha- wa Community Recreational As- sociats oe, ere illustrated in a dis- play ir the window of Dancey Bros. Lia The fact that the C.R.A. builds healthy bodies through sports is shown by the display of equipment. Another fine exhibition is that in the window of Ward's Depart- ment Store showing the work of the Women's Welfare League. Woodwork carved and decorated by boys at Simcoe Hall, landscape painting and carved models all are shown along with fine examples of metal work and basket craft. Model of a Red Cross nurse at- tending a baby, along with posters and reading material, all to be seen in Zeller'swindow, brings home the work of the Red Cross. Photographs are used largely in the Salvation Army display in the window of the Robert Simpson Co. Ltd. A series of captioned photo- graphs' show work being done in hostels, an immigration reception centre and Salvation Army hos- pitals. A window that seems to hold a fascination for small boys is that of Henderson's Book Store. In it are rifles, wjreless sets, first aid kits and signal and field sets of XX3 various kinds -- all things used in the training of Army Cadets. Girl Guide Window Across the road in the Ontario | Shore Gas 'Co. Ltd. window the Girl Guides have a display of uni- forms of Guides, Brownies, and Sea Rangers. There are examples of handicraft models -- one that of a home-made rural mail-box which shows considerable ingenu- ity. ~ Christmas Cheer Fund is well shown in tHe window of Bassett's Jewellers and a pair of plaques along with poppies and wreaths illustrate the work of the .Cana- dian Legion in Johnston's Men's Wear. Two statuesque models in Atkins Hosiery and Lingerie Shoppe por- tray Y.W.CA. instructors. The Y.W.C.A. is also shown to be the home of the Oshawa Chess Club and junior puppet groups The Canadian National Institute for the Blind has a modest display in the window of S. S. Kresge Co. Ltd, and the work done by the Children's Aid Society is shown in F. T. Lamble's.
