D. HOPE Correspondent Scugog, May 4 -- Rev and Mrs. Alvin Cooper and daughter of Toronto will be week- end guests of R. W. Denton and his mother at the parsonage and will assist Mr. Denton with the chris. tening of the children at 11 am. in Grace Church and 2 p.m. at the Head Church, May 9, Mothers' Day. Special music is being prepared. The choir's message last Sunday was: "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer" which blended in with the message of Mr. Denton for the ru- ral people who live so close to nat- ure it is easier to believe in God's power. The W.A. meeting and supper will be held on Wednesday, May 12, in the basement of Grace United Church. All are invited. A number of CGIT. girls and friends of Oshawa enjoyed a motor trip in four cars around our beauti- ful island, led by Mr. Denton and his mother and friend, Miss Helen Hayes, on Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Pogue and sons, Bill, Roy and Gordon, visited his parents My. and Mrs. Joseph Pogue at Valentia on Sunday. We are all sorry to hear Mrs. R. Pogue nad to be rushed to the Lindsay Hospital where we all hope she will soon be able to return to her home. Mr. Yeo has the Scugog mail route we all hope to get the good service as in the past by Mr. David Dowson. We cannot live without our neigh- bours as has been proven before and is being proven again as neighbours are helping Louls Pearce as he 1s unable to do it.
