Committee of the Whole received the consultants report on a new Destination Development Master Plan — with an emphasis on attracting the kind of tourists who benefit the County as opposed to the recent day-tripper phenomenon. We approved the method to be used for reconstruction of County Rd. 49 whenever funding becomes available to do that — the concrete surface will be rubbleized (breaking up the old concrete surface) and paved over with asphalt. This means we are ready to go if the Province and Feds come up with the grants required to make this possible. Among recommendations of the Traffic Advisory Committee, Council agreed to implement speed bumps in Cherry Valley to slow down traffic through the village.
