4 Life In The Past Nelson Hicks' Journals December 1928 The South Marysburgh Mirror Thur. 20 - Kind of a blustery day snow by spells but not cold Fri. 21 - Christmas tree at the Bay Mirt Royden & I went. Quite a nice night Kathleen & Floral were out from Pic- ton Sat. 22 - Mirt and I went over to Picton Lloyd fitch Wrex down to Picton So he came home with. going to stay (cid:415)ll Christmas Floral came out two. Kathleen stayed over. Sun. 23 - We didn't go to Church to day Mirt not feeling very good. Floral went over to Town a(cid:332)er tea. Mon. 24 - Mirt clean two Ducks and a Turkey for Christ- mas to take up to Lloyds. I went up to Milford to get a spring in the car. Royden went back to Lloyds with John Loney. A lovely day Floral came home at night Dec. 25 - Christmas day and a very fine day We all went up to Lloyd's there was Archie and Ina Lial Eddie Sarah Elise and family. Luise had a lovely dinner and we all had a good (cid:415)me. We all le(cid:332) about Four Oclock. for home we arrive home about Six leaving Floral and Kathleen in Pic- ton Dec. 26 - Royden took a grist up to Milford s(cid:415)ll we are having nice warm weather. Thur. 27 - I worked around the Barn fixing up things Royden not feeling very good. Fri. 28 - No snow yet to speak of and weather quite warm I helped John Loney kill Hogs took 8 of Wrexes Ducks up to Milford got $1.00 a piece for them. Sat. 29 - I drew out some manure around the Berries Garnet was here and he is helping do everything A(cid:332)er tea Mirt and I went over to Picton we stayed for the show Floral and Kathleen came home. Sun. 30 - Kathleen & Floral went to church a(cid:332)er tea Flo- ral went over to Picton Kathleen don't ha(cid:332)o work to morrow. Mon. 31 - A very nice day. Sold him a new Durant Sedan then Wrex Lloyd and I went over to Belleville I was ge(cid:427)ng some Rep. done on my car About three o'clock we came home Kathleen came home with us from Picton Sun. 2 - We all went around to church Quite a nice day Mon. 3 - I took Kathleen over to Picton coming home It commenced to rain and we had a big rain Tue. 4 - Royden plowed a peace of land here by the House for Early potatoes next Spring Wed. 5 - Floral and I started to take Wrex over to Belleville to go to the O.B.C. We had car trouble and didn't go. Had a big rain last night colder today. Thur. 6 - Floral Nedra Ostrander and I took Wrex over to Belleville he is going to take a Four Month Course at the Ontario Business Callage. He is going to stay with Lloyd. It was a nice day and the roads were good Fri. 7 - Royden and I did some Banking around the House. Sat. 8 - A(cid:332)er dinner we went over to Picton the weather has changed and It is colder although the roads were good for cars Sun. 9 - Lloyd and Luise were down went out to Geo Hudgins for Dinner Kathleen came home with them came out here for Supper and then on home Lloyd has sold his Star Six Mon. 10 - Royden and I drew up some wood. Weather is some colder. Tue. 11 - Some warmer got the coalt and young ca(cid:425)le home. We are having a spell of nice weather Floral went over to Picton with Davis Due(cid:425)a Wed. 12 - Very warm for the (cid:415)me of year. Lloyd down with a new car. Mirt went up home with him I did some plastering around the Barn Thur. 13 - They were around tes(cid:415)ng ca(cid:425)le again we are having very nice weather. Fri. 14 - Floral got a le(cid:425)er from the Department store Picton to come over and help in the Cash Office. Royden took her over Lloyd fetched Mirt down weather fine. Sat. 15 - I went over to Picton with Davis Due(cid:425)a big crowd in Town. Kathleen came home with us. Floral arrived some (cid:415)me in the evening. Sun. 16 - Royden took Kathleen over a(cid:332)er Dinner. Floral going over some (cid:415)me this evening. Mon. 17 - Royden Mirt and I picked the Turkeys and gut them ready to take away we only had 14 to sell this year Tue. 18 - Royden and I took the Turkeys over to Picton sold them for 40 cts per lbs. Wed. 19 - Mrs Ed. Rorke asked all her Brothers and Sisters to her home for Dinner Mirt and I went [over?] had a nice (cid:415)me and a nice dinner wind blew quite hard with some snow but not very cold
