2 The South Marysburgh Mirror Milford Library Branch Check It Out By Aaron Nash the Library's Time We are excited to be hos(cid:415)ng Dave Meslin on June 13. Dave is a popular Toronto-based ac(cid:415)vist, organizer, and writer. He will be joined by a panel of representa(cid:415)ves from different levels of government in a spirited debate that's sure to be a must-see for the poli(cid:415)cally engaged or curious. You can watch his Ted Talk and pick up (cid:415)ckets for the event at peclibrary.org/dave-meslin. Proceeds support to Renew expansion campaign. (Go to (cid:415)metorenew.ca for more informa(cid:415)on the expansion.) Dave's new book Teardown: on Rebuilding Democracy from the Ground Up, which was several years in the making, comes out on May 14. He summarizes the book as follows: "Teardown is not an aggrega(cid:415)on of complaints--it's a collec(cid:415)on of solu(cid:415)ons aimed at bringing our democra(cid:415)c ecosystem to life, not only in our legislatures but also in our daily lives. It's a call for a revolu(cid:415)on against our own cynicism and against a spiritually carcinogenic system that has crushed our voice … This book is a recipe for change. A cure for cynicism. A war on apathy." Interlibrary Loan The Southern Ontario Library Service (SOLS) provides both the delivery service and the digital infrastructure that makes the sharing of materials between the provincial libraries possible. However, due to provincial budget cuts to SOLS, the interlibrary loan service has been terminated. This is a service that has been well used and o(cid:332)en praised by County residents. We are deeply sorry that this is no longer a service that we will be able to offer, and we are working on ways to reduce the impact of its loss. The exchange of books in the County collec(cid:415)on will not be affected; our internal courier will con(cid:415)nue to run. If you would like to register your concern about this loss of service, contact Todd Smith, your MPP. His email is Todd.Smithco@pc.ola.org, and his phone address number is 613-962-1144. His cons(cid:415)tuency office is located at 5503 Hwy. 62 South, Unit D, Box 6-2, Belleville, Ontario, K8N 4Z7.
