TheThe Published for Residents, Businesses and Visitors since 1985 MirrorMirror Marysburgh South February 2019 The Arrow Lives On!  The history of the AVRO Arrow, par(cid:415)cularly the nine test  models  of  the  aircra(cid:332)  launched  from  Pt.  Petre  in  the  1950's, was brought to life at two sold out presenta(cid:415)ons  at Milford Town Hall during Flashback February fes(cid:415)vi(cid:415)es  last weekend. The test models, that sit on the bo(cid:425)om of  Lake Ontario, are some of the few artefacts that s(cid:415)ll exist  a(cid:332)er  the  Arrow  project  was  suddenly  cancelled  in  1959   by the Diefenbaker government.    Expedi(cid:415)on  leader,  John  Burzynski  (below),  detailed  the intricacies and challenges of loca(cid:415)ng the models, one  of  which  has  been  recovered  and  is  in  the  hands  of  conservators.  He  also  showed  images  of  the  search  site  and explained the plans when the search begins again in  the  spring.  A  documentary  film  about  the  recovery  project will be released later this year.   Le(cid:332), an ingot from one of the six Arrows destroyed in 1959. The planes and the tooling were taken apart and melted down.
