To coincide with this year’s Milford Fair and the honouring of our library system, the Mirror is launching a short story contest for residents of South Marysburgh. Two cash prizes will be available, one for the best short story submitted by an adult over the age of 18, and one for the best story writ- ten by a youth under age 18. The prizes will be named after the Mirror’s founder, Bev Walker, and it’s second publisher, Des Marcille. The winners will receive $50.00 each and will have their stories published in the printed and on- line editions of the South Marysburgh Mirror. \n ad- dition, copies of the winning stories will be circu- lated to all the libraries in the County and on the Prince Edward County library’s website. Winners will be announced on Fair day in September and copies will be available at the Mirror’s booth in the fair- grounds. To qualify, please submit your entry by email to themirror@kos.net in a recognized computer software program such as MS Word. Entries can be no longer than 2000 words and must include the writer’s name, civic & email addresses, and phone number. The deadline for entries is August 31, 2012. All sut must be p and the winners must agree to allow the Mirror to pub- lish their work and distribute it as outlined above. Good luck to all aspiring Steinbecks, Munros and Hemingways! |, blichad Dewdrops (Courtesy Juanita McMahon)
