The South Marysbursh Mirror Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Like most people, I have to occasionally give my head a shake when I compare my problems with those of others around the world. I’m not dealing with war, starvation, drought, oppression or a host of other calamitous circumstances. My biggest concerns right now are making sure the sump pump is working properly, and trying to figure out how to expand 19 pages of Mirror copy and advertising to 20 pages, and get it to Printcraft and then off to you. I have much to be thankful for including all the Mirror’s readers, advertisers and supporters who have helped me immensely since I took on the paper in September. Of the Mirror’s suppliers, Gord Meder and his staff at Printcraft have done a fabulous job turning the Mirror around each month; and Shaila Van Vlack, Rick Jewell and Doug Beslisle at the Milford Post Office have made distribution to each household in South Marysburgh as effortless as pos- sible. We might criticize the post office as an organi- zation, but we cannot fault our own branch's employ- ees! Because the Mirror is advertising supported, it could not be published with out their help. I am encouraged that new advertisers are interested in space and that current ones are increasing the size of their ads, perhaps recognizing that this paper can positively affect their businesses. I have increased the circulation accordingly and now distribute copies to all the public libraries in the County as well as to more stores in Picton, Cherry Valley and outlying areas. The December issue of the Mirror—the gala Christmas issue, as I have been referring to it—is 20 pages, indicative of more contributions from adver- tisers and readers. I am pleased to have more copy to include and in this issue some photo submissions. Thank you for your participation and contributions which make the Mirror that much more interesting for its readers. Finally, whether you are a Christian celebrat- ing Christmas, a Jew celebrating Hanukkah on De- cember 21st or another religious denomination gath- ering for your own celebration, all the best for your holiday, and much success and happiness in 2012. Please remember that although we live with- out the horrors of other countries, there are those in South Marysburgh and Prince Edward County who need our help. Give as generously as you can to our community’s charities and food bai Regards, Steve Ferguson In this issue... Recreation Committee Events 3 New Nature Preserve 4 Gossip! 5 River Cruise by John A.
