December 2011 Volume XXV, Number 10 The South Marysburch Mirror Published for and about local people and events A Maypole Dance? Well not exactly, but that’s what passersby may have concluded was occurring in front of the Milford post office on November 13th. In fact it was Bruce Dowdell, Pieter deBoer and Tom Evans string- ing lights onto the 60-foot pine tree in preparation for this month’s tree lighting on December 14th. The Recreation Committee has a busy holi- day season planned for the residents of South Marys- burgh. The countdown to the tree lighting on the 14th will begin at 6:00 p.m. After the tree is lit, chil- dren will be able to add their own magic to it by hanging decorations. At 6:30 p.m. events move to St. Philips church, including a puppet show and hay rides around Milford. An assortment of refreshments will be available all evening. Then on January 1st in conjunction with Swingate Gardens B&B, the 5th annual New Year’s Levee takes place at 965 County Road 13, just west of the Black River Cheese Factory. The levee is a great opportunity to welcome in the new year with your friends and neighbors. During the holidays, please remember to consider those less fortunate by donating to the food bank. Assuming that the temperatures drop in Janu- ary, the Committee will be working on events for the Milford Winter Carnival. Additional information about these events and others is included throughout this month’s issue of the South Marysburgh Mirror. Just when the Recreation Committee will organize a Milford Maypole Dance is unknown but they generally take place in May. The Mirror is pleased to have planted the seed!
