Chief Stephen Tanner noted during a Dec. 22 meeting of the Halton Police Board that there n approximately 1,200 ve- hicle thefts within the region by that point in 2022, significantly more than the 867 auto thefts in 2021 or the 518 auto thefts in 2020.
