Hog Production During the first three months of 1947 the Quebec Department of Agriculture, in co-operation wita the Dominion Department of Agri- culture, gave hog carcass demon- strations at 32 separate centres within the Province. These meet- ings created a great deal of interest among the farmers and hog dealers, the total attendance being 3,667, or an average of 115 at each meeting. Each centre was chosen because it was the best in hog producing of that particular district. Specially prepared information for each district was given by the aid of charts. Lectures on hog diseases and ' remedies were delivered at each de- monstration by veterinary officers nf the Quebec Departmnt of Agricul- ture, with the active co-operation of the District Agronomes, and other officers of both Departments of Agriculture. The purpose of these demonstra- tions was to instruct farmers on hog breeding and stimulate hog breeders to improve their revenue 'and increase their production" of select grade hogs' for the next two years, so that regular shipments of quality Wiltshire sides #hight be achieved and Canada's bacon ex- ports maintained. The demonstra tions are regarded as highly suc- cessful.
