Mr. Lilworth, regional director of the Canadian Broadcasting Cor- poration and a life-long friend of Miss Carr, said: "I have heard she was intolerab- le, impatient, irritable and selfish, but what are these traits in the face of genius? Actually, it is no reproach to Victoria that the city was unappreciative of her talent. No other city in Canada would have done any better, "It is the natural course of his- tory that great creative talent has been surrounded by persons who do not understand it. Victoria, however, must take Miss Carr as a lesson and not repeat its mis- take." Mr, Dilworth read from Miss Carr's unpublished daily journal which he said showed she was de- voted to an absorbing task, and had no time for anything shoddy in the world. "She was modest and tolerant, and extremely devoted to a rever- Shee for the religious aspects of na- ure." The film, to be shown through- out Canada, showed many examples of Miss Carr's work in the chrono- logical order, including British Co- lumbia scenes of forest and Indian villages on which many of her paintings were based. Boy Gets Gold Medal For 'Bravest Act' Seventeen-year-old Alan Edward Ravani, standing on the front at Peacehaven, Sussex, noticed a dinghy in difficulties. In it were two R.AF. men. 4 The sea was rough, there was an ebb tide, and an onshore wind. Dan- gerous currents criss-crossed, But Ravani swam out to rescue the men. That wes last September.
