Contracts Wanted for Any Small Type of "METAL TURNING and DRILL PRESS WORK Phone 3747w2 Taxation Discussions Aimed at All Provinces Ottawa, Jan, 16--(CP)--Cur- | rent Dominion-Provincial taxation di.cussions are aimed not only at satisfying New Brunswick, Sas- katchewan and Manitoba, but also any other province which may la- ter enter into tax negotiations | with federal authorities, it was learned today. A source in close touch with the discussions said that the object- ive of agreements with all nine provinces was not being kept in mind in efforts to equalize the $15 per capita subsidies offered New Brunswick, Saskatchewan and Manitoba with the $21 per capita subsidies offered British Columbia and Prince Edward Is- land, The source said an equalization formula now was under study but details of it likely would not be disclosed until the termination of current talks possibly Friday, Premier Dougas of Saskatche- wan left for Regina yesterday and placed Hon. Clarence Fines, his provincial treasurer, in charge of further discussions. However, it was stressed that there was noth- ing "sinister" in Mr. Douglas' move. The Saskatchewan Legisla- ture opens in two weeks' time and he had to return to take up work connected with it, Mr.' Fines said that as far as he was concerned "good progress" was being made. Finance Minister Abbott, at the end of the second day of discus- sions, said he had no statement to make other than that discus- sions were continuing It was learned that m= -h of the time was spent going over the de- tails of the taxation pacts agreed to in principle by New Brunswick, Manitoba and Saskatchewan be- fore British Columbia and Prince Edward Island obtained their of- fers of higher subsidies. As the details of the original agreements were taken up amend- ments wer suggested and studied. There was no indication that the discussions would be extended into next week when Premier Manning of Alberta is scheduled to arrive to resume previous un- succesful taxation talks, There have been unconfirmed reports that Premier MacDonald of Nova Scotia will also come to Ottawa soon for further negotiation talks, Ontario and Quebec have not entered into active negotiations for new agreements since the minion-Provincial Conference failed last May Hold Best Cattle, Kennedy Advises Toronto, Jan. 16--(CP)--On- tario Agriculture Minister Kenne- dy yesterday told provincial cat- tle breeders to hold back their top quality animals when selling to breeders from outside Canada. Failure to take the precaution of holding top lines of dairy cattle, he said, might lose the province her world trade. Ontario, he de- clared, is now producing the best cattle in the world and should continue to do so.
