PORT PERRY, Sept. 4--A quiet dding took place in the Church of Ascension on August 22, when udrey Helen, younger daughter of [r. and Mrs. Ed Balfour, of Port y, became the bride of Mr. puglas Lade son of Mr. and Mrs. bert Lade, Brooklin. The bride, othy Balfour, who wore a frock of old rose with black hat. Pte. Leslie Lade was his brother's best man. The officiating clergyman was Rev. J. C. Clough, rector of the church. After the ceremony a re- ception was held at the home of the bride's parents. Among those pres- ent were: Mr. Harley Balfour, broth- er of the bride; Mr. Jack Ge.rand: Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lade, parents -- attended by her sister, Miss Dor- and other places. On their return they will reside in Brooklin. Rev. J. C. Clough left en Wed- nesday to spend a short holiday in Haliburton and other places before taking up his new duties in To- | ronto. He waa accompanizd by | Rev. Mr. Haythorne, of Toronto who was his guest at the rectory for a few days last week. On Aug- ust 25 Mr. Clough preached his farewell sermon. The church was Rev. Mr. Clough and takes up his duties on September 8. The service was conducted on 'September 1 by Mr. Monk of Bethany. Rev. W. J. H. Smyth, of Port Perry United church, leaves on Sep- tember 6 for a trip to Winnipeg. Rev. Dr. T. H. Mitchell, of Stouff- ville, will preach during September. Mr. and Mrs. Jef!
