KAISER TELLS STORY OF OLD CEMETERY == =2% (Continued from page 1) work and memory of our pion eers, but little or no getion what- ever, until the Hom. Dr. Robb, our present Minister of Health, hag finally given us the best Cemetery Act to be found any- where in America. This Act pro- vides a means of giving every part of Ontario a chance, volun- tarily, to wipe out the stigma of neglected cemeteries from Rural Ontario, but in case of failure, the townships will finally be ob- liged to assume the responsibil- ity. There Every Day "This provision is as it should be. Hard times. and high taxes have conspired to stay the minis- ter"s hands for the present, and wisely so. But, returning to Frank Frisby, he was cleaning up the old cemetery, levelling the ground, straightening up the monuments, making paths, mov- ing like a mysterious figure from point to point, He has been here every day for weeks and when I ventured close enough for con- versation, he told me it would be well on to Fall before he would be through, and, furthermore, I found he was a poor man, out of employment, a cement worker by trade. And without pay or hope of compensation, he intendgd to give all his spare time this Sum- mer to the task of improving the cemetery in which his only child had been buried many years ago. Little wonder, with my past ex- perience in the background, that I stood beside Mr. Eckhart at six o'Mock and as I viewed this may- velloug man, Frank Frisby, hop into his old Ford car at the gate and with flapping wings move off for home after a hard day of toil, little wonder 1 said, 'There is a man among a million; and how he recalls to my mind the Old Man and the Grey Mare in Siv Walter Scott's famous novel, 'Old Mortality.' "When the councils various municipalities of Ontar- knowing that in a few years they will be obliged to do this work of cleaning up old ceme- teries, and having at the present time vast numbers of men out of employment, why not rezard the task as a municipal duty, and have it done now, gftraying the cost in the same mo nar as that of municinal ralief?" of the KARN m™---- [Fon DRUGGIST FO , IPHONE §78.
