The executive which will carry on for the season includes Or Gamsby, of Orono, President; T. Elliott, Oshawa, Vice President M. B. Bennett, Port Hope, Secre- tarv-trcasurer. The local represen- tatives on the executive are Messrs. Banpon and R. Winter, Messrs. Goodwin and Christie, Port Hope and Messrs. O. Cornish W. », Branch, Oshawa, The opening games in the league | ~ | will be played on May 24 with Oshawa taking part in a morning game at Newcastle against Orono and Port Hope playing at home with Oshawa as the visitors in the afternoon. During the summer all the home games of the Oshawa Duquettes will be played on Wed- nesday afternoons at the Stadium and "will be twilight fixtures start- ing after supper, The road games for the Duquettes will be played on Saturday afternoons, Under the arrangements made last night the first two teams will play -off for the championship with the winner continuing in the Provincial Inter- mediate playdowns, the league be- ing affiliated with the O.A.B.A, It was at first thought that Osh- awa would be represented by two teams but it was found that this system would weaken both teams to such an extent that the calibre of ball in the league would be im- paired. While a considerable num- ber of first class players have been gathered in by The Dukes, there are a large number of plavers whose interest brought them out to the practices of The Dukes carlier in the scason, and who were not just good enough to catch a place They have real ability, however, and with a little more experience will be crowding the veterans next year for a place on the senior team. With three teams in the league such as Orono, Port Hope and Oshawa Duquettées the race should be a thriller, Orono and Oshawa will have the advantage of youth while Port Hope will have a sprinkling of veterans and young- sters and mav be looked upon as contenders, However, Oshawa can- not be counted out and with the plaving ability that has been de- veloped in softball circles here in the past there is no reason 'in the team should Orono: | and | LADY TERRINGTON IN CANADA Montreal, -- Lady Rena Ter. rington, first woman to act in English talking pictures and au- thor of books on Canada and the British West Indies, was present recently to informally inaugur- ate the 1932 Canadian West In- dies passenger service. STARTS TODAY Ken Maynard NEW Nationals Won From Mimico Toronto, May 21 -- Playing su- perbly in the last twenty minutes, the National O.A.L.A. senior team in that spurt outscored Mimico here last night by 4 to 1, and won a well-merited 9 to 5 verdict, The Seca Fleas were the better team, and they had to be, in view of the fact that they served 14 of the 22 penalties inflicted. A handicap like this generally results in defeat, but the Nationals had other plans. The Suburbanites were very much in the running until they weakened near the end of the third period. Just previous to this they had scored twice in succession, to come within gone goal of tying the count at 5 to 5, The gffort proved too much for thom, however, and the locals proceeded to dominate the situation, Before the intermis- sion they registered twice, and in the next session' they outscored the plucky invaders by 2 to 1, International KEEPING IN KACE Rochester N.Y., May 21.--Buf- falo again defeated Rochester yesterday to keep on the heels of Newark, the final score being 4 to 2.
