Those who had re- serves, and who have been unemployed for long periods, are now without resources to carry them through the long and bitter months of the winter to come. The needs of last year pale into Why You Should do Your Share To thousands who have not suffered appreciably, whe are still in comfortable circumstances, the opportunity to help the " needy should be considered a high privilege and a duty. It is ever the responsibility of the strong to help the weak, of the insignificance before the cry for help which will be heard dur- ing the next few months. The Associated Welfare Societies, after careful study and investigation, estimates that between $80,000 and $90,000 will be required for its relief work this year. With the f:deral and Dominion governments paying dollar for dollar for money paid in actual relief, it will be absolutely necessary for the citizens of Oshawa to subscribe $30,000 in the next three days to make it possible to provide the assistance which will be required by needy families during the coming winter. What Your Money Will do Every dollar you subscribe and spend in actual relief will be trebled by the governments' contributions. This: money wil finance the Family Welfare Board, in providing groceries, milk, bread, meat and fuel for families which would otherwise be cold and starving. It will enable the Women's Welfare League to distribute clothing to those families, and particularly the mo- thers and children, who have not the necessary clothing to keep fortunate to help the unfortunate, for those who have all the comforts and necessities they need to share what they have with those who are in suffering and want. If you have not suffered, if you have had plenty and to spare, then surely you will be willing to share what you have with those who have nothing,--and be glad of the opportunity of doing it. Not How Little, but How Much The amount which every indiyidual should give is a matter of the individual conscience. It should not be a question of how little can be given, but of how much each individual can spars for others. The need this year is so great, the cause so worthy, that there should be no hesitation on the part of those who.can give in making sacrifices for the sake of our less fortunate citi- zens. The canvassers will be calling within the next three days, but in the meantime--make your contribution a matter of con. science, consider honestly how much you can spare, and make the chilly winter blasts from their bodies. your donation as generous as you possibly can. ~ a / Be Ready When The Canvassers Call | and be GLAD You | This Space is: Donated to the Associated Welfare Societies by the Oshawa Daily Times BY Laat - \ 7 be i oR dA --_.-- t
